What does your country do best?

Didn't we just have this thread about two weeks ago? A quick search tells me yes. The thread was started two and a half weeks ago and the last post in that thread was only a week and a half ago. I doubt much has changed with what our countries do best since then... In the future, you should probably use the search function.

Well, my answer hasn't changed since just two and a half weeks ago so I guess I'll just quote my old answer:

Hockey, maple syrup, bacon. Although I haven't sampled bacon from all over the world so I don't know for sure that we are best at that.

Well being English i'll just say the UK in general;

- Drinking
- Comedy
- Tea Drinking
- Great Engineers (mostly aircraft)
- Rugby

I'm American, and a patriotic one, at that. I'm not going to go with the cop-out of saying "FREEDOM!" because, well, although we did some great things with the Revolution, first written Constitution and all, the millions of displaced Native Americans and millions of Slaves pre 1865 might have the odd complaint or two. Therefore, I'm going to go with entertainment, especially Cinema- we are the country that brought forth the likes of Disney, Universal Studios, and Hollywood. We're also pretty damn good at music- rock n' roll, Broadway, Jazz, Hip-hop, etc.

We have a knack for inventing- the light bulb, the assembly line, television, the airplane, the model T, and the telephone are all American inventions, and we've contributed greatly to several fields, such as weapons, warfare, computers, communications, and transportation.

Space travel, as well. The Skylab, the moon landings, the Space Shuttles, etc. We may have cut NASA's budget, but it'll take decades for people to catch up, and even longer for anyone to surpass us.

We really should get back to doing that some time, I feel as though people are starting to forget our proud tradition of stealing half the world with the cunning use of flags.


Perhaps it's just because i'm English and so the comedy is more geared towards me but I really do think we have the best comedians, perhaps it's because we also do jaded and bitter best?

I used to believe tea was our thing, but unfortunately now that I live in the Czech republic I think they do it better. Just not "English Tea."
