Of the recent games, SC2 and civ5.

The first for not being as good as I thought it would be, was swayed by the hype.

The second for not being able to run on my pc (i thought it could, have minimum specs+ran demo on high settings just fine, but the real game overheats my comp too much and can't play for more then a short period of time)

I got this game called Droplitz on sale on Steam for 2 bucks from 10. Even at 2 bucks, it was completely worthless.

I regret buying Dante's Inferno. Also the video game of Flushed Away. I don't know what possessed me to even think of buying it, and now I can't seem to get rid of it for more than £1, unless I throw it out, which would be a complete waste of money, it cost me £20!

Damnation
Superman Returns
Medal of Honor

Those first two pretty much ruined me for pre-orders. Wait for the reviews!

Modern warefare 2, Whats so great about looking at the back of a wall?

X2: The threat, once the novelty of a really immersive game wore off (this happend when I realised you were expected to have a multi million company before you get to even fight)I realised how skechy everything was.

Overlord, Yay a game about being evil... why are there only puzzles? The stuff said is funny and quotable but everything else....

And last but not least: Fallout 3, now let me explain this... I liked it, true, but there was a lack of something, I felt like I was playing an FPS not an FPS/RPG call me old fashond but neverwinter knights and oblivion felt more immersive and RPGish.

I always regret buying the first game in a half-decent franchise. Like F.E.A.R., Force Unleashed, etc. My inner completist will have me circling the subsequent games even though I know it won't get any better... I have to give the games away to break the cycle.

Actual bad games, I don't have any real regrets. I rarely buy games before the price comes down, so spending $20 for some piece of crap game never really annoys me that much. I can usually amuse myself long enough to justify the cost then I give it to someone who might enjoy it more. Doom 3 probably comes the closest if only because I knew better, but still bought the game in its first week. Thankfully, it wasn't a bad game, but that's damning with very faint praise.

I pre-ordered Crackdown 2. The first crackdown was just so fun...it was what I always wanted GTA to be! Crackdown 2 on the other-hand...ugh. Also GTA 4 and Armored Core: For Answer, but I got both of those for cheap used....in fact I think I traded all three of those games in on the same trip! That was a good day.

Mafia 2.
Was advertised like it mixed GTA IVs open world with Mafia 1s story telling/realism.
In fact it mixed GTA IVs arcade car physics with a badly written story, an open world devoid of anything to do but the main storyline and boring gameplay.
I have a number of issues with the game too, although I enjoyed it overall, but you are flat-out wrong with how you say it was advertised; they said time and time again in the interviews, podcasts and developer diaries that it's sticking to the format laid down by the first game.

And you should set the car physics to simulation (and if you say you did then you need to play GTA IV and Mafia 2 side-by-side, the cars aren't anything alike).

OT: Blood Stone. I enjoyed it, but now I'm really going to be scrounging for money when it comes to buying AssCreedBros.

Fable 3, had to buy it since I kinda enjoyed Fable 2, but its loaded with bugs, online coop sucks, they dont even add standard things like black dye in the game to start with so they can milk you for more money by adding it in a dlc later on. etc etc etc..

The Settlers: Heritage of Kings. Utter shit no matter how you look at it.
Space Trader: Merchant Marine, a small indie game I got on Steam. Looked interesting. Played like shit.

Sonic Heroes for the PS2... God thats awful!
... I must be the only one who loved that game, everyone else says the same as you...
OT: Pretty much every game, not that I find them boring, it's the fact I get bored/finish them too quickly. I think the only game that I actually don't regret buying is ES: Oblivion. I tend to rent these days.

I haven't truly regretted any games I played, rather I have a couple of games that I regret that I bought them new.

Those would be Mass Effect 2 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I literally ran out of reasons to play either of those games less than 2 weeks after purchasing. Had I gotten them for $20 or less it would have been fine, but full price, they were complete wastes of money.

To expand on this I am shitty at action games. It usually takes me a while to beat even short games because I suck. Ocarina of Time is too easy, plain and simple. I breezed through the first time with no real problems and then beat it a 2nd time without even getting hit. Not just without a death, without ever being touched. I didn't even bother trying to upgrade anything because I didn't bloody need to. I mean, after you do that, what more can you do with a game?

Mass Effect 2 was a blast the first time through, but after you've seen the whole story it just because a really long FPS with no compelling reason to play that many freakin missions. Neither the story nor gameplay vary enough to make me want to keep going more then one mission at a time. It sucks because BioWare keeps coming out with new DLC for a game that I have lost pretty much all interest in. If I had waited to buy it, I could have had a blast playing the complete package. Instead I'm going to have to trudge through a bunch of boring bits just so I can have a more complete gamesave for ME3. True you can play the DLC with an already ended game, but if it's anything like Dragon Age, it works a lot better when it's done with a new game file.

Spore: Collector's Edition
Either version of Spore would be a waste.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2
The concept is cool, but the controls are so spastic & twitchy that it kills the immersion for me. Even if I move deliberately, other players run around like it's Quake 3. Slightly slower movement like in GoW or the Bad Company games would've gone a long ways in SWB2.

I enjoyed Sonic Heroes. I pretty much enjoy every Sonic game. Even if I do suck too much to beat most of them.
