I'm the opposite, the biggest laptop I'll buy is 14". Laptops are mobile devices to be carried around. My work laptop is 15" and feels massive, the only reason I don't switch it for a 13" is because it has an Ethernet port and that is very useful for basic network troubleshooting.

It also comes with the new RE game and a CPU cooler but I’ll probably resell the latter as it’s not enough for the i7/i9 I’m considering.
The problem with Apple is that they dictate everything, you actually can't even install a different web browser.
Didn't know about the web browser, but otherwise true, you want to do something on apple, you do it the apple way. But endlessly giving data to google is annoying.
Not technically true though? Every browser on iOS is required to be made with the WebKit browser rendering engine, but that's it. You can still install a different browser (which would be handy if you use a preferred browser on desktop and want to have some level feature/syncing parity)
Every browser you download is essentially a visual skin of Safari. Sure you can download Chrome or Firefox but it's not actually Chrome or Firefox.
Well, at least I can still have my search browser and my frequently checked sites browser.
The apple experiment seems like it might be ending in failure. My SO hates the UI and not being able to find a launcher like she likes. There are things I like about the Iphone, but I kinda hate holding it. It feels uncomfortable in my hands and I don't think a case would fix that.
My gf just upgraded her iPhone to 17 Pro Max, and made the HUGE mistake of asking me to go with her for the process. I hate sales people, and Apple products are made to sell shit, and I don't stand by idly when a salesperson is selling bullshit. Never mind that charging capabilities have largely gone unchanged forever, it seems every new iPhone requires a whole new charger, so when she "upgraded" to this new phone that does exactly dick better than her old phone, I was the one to get to the nitty gritty and ask "let me guess, her old charger won't work with this new phone, will it?" The sales guy did his phony, apologetic shrug as he had to upsell her not only on a new charging cable, but a new power adapter, +$60 later. She had the nerve to get mad at ME because I embarrassed her calling a spade a spade throughout the process. I tried to get her to come to the Samsung side which admittedly has adopted a lot of the bullshittery Apple has introduced (removing the audio jack, really??), but at least they have yet to gatekeep basic personalization behind proprietary paywalls. Anyone who goes i-anything needs to have their heads checked; it's North Korea: yeah, all of your "super private" personal information is protected... behind an iron curtain that restricts everything but that which they allow you to access.
We still have our old phones, almost certainly going back to them.
It's a lesser of multiple evils, but if you're going to pay thousands of dollars, at least spend it on things that let you do what you want versus what they allow you to do.
They have to change things up in order to justify the price of a new phone, and if they run out of good ideas, they'll resort to bad ones.
I'm kind of surprised your SO went into an iPhone in the first place if the possibility of wanting a launcher was there. Obviously there is an adjustment period as one gets used to the new UI, so maybe a bit of time would help? Otherwise, ehhh, yeah, not for everyone. Part of me misses the days of having a really cool and well customized launcher.

The store made it sound like there would be some launchers. Plus, she wanted to give it a try, but she hates it, a lot. I feel like a case for this phone would just make it too thick, even without one its as thick as my s22 ultra.
The public have no right to ***** about Apple discontinuing the Lightning connector and changing to USB-C since they were the ones who pissed and moaned about Apple having proprietary cables in the first place. In fact I seem to recall much rejoicing after an EU legal ruling meant they had to make the change.
