Quite frankly, it's not what for, it's why. I have goals in life that I am determined to attain, and done my way, we'd get it all done via common sense and negotiation, but if I feel someone is purposely in my way, I'd start from physical abuse all the way up to murder to stop such an injustice. Nobody should have the right to stand in your way for just that purpose; to get in your way.

And honestly, there are certain people who I won't go after...but if they cross my path, I will not allow them to be unpunished, as before, to whatever extent is necessary.

I would kill to defend myself or the people I love. I would kill for life(for example, killing for food if I was starving, or some similar situation, if it was the only way). I would kill for a number of reasons, I would kill for anything I view more important than the life of my enemies(or those who make themselves my enemies).

I'd have to feel the killing is necessary. That there is a good reason why a person shouldn't live anymore. Every death should serve a purpose, a goal - if you don't have a good one, why bother?

If the reason is good enough, the background motive can be pretty much anything: justice, revenge, personal gain, self preservation, the proverbial greater good... anything you can imagine.
