Seriously, what if? What if it sucks? What if it's all been hype? WHAT WILL WE DO?
move on and get over it, not like it'd be the only 'ultra hyped release' to end up sucking
We both know it won't be that easy. Hally and Lena alone will rant for months.

well, since i never see Lena, that won't matter, but >.> there is Jeduh ....

but lemmme counter that, with this.
1) they wont shut up about 'how awesome it is'
2) they wont shut up about 'how much it sucks'
and for those reading this with 'o.o?' expressions, I'm as tired of hearing about this game, as the pony haters are tired of hearing about My Little Pony(but unlike them, this is probably the only time I'll say anything about it)

Eh. Bethesda fans will forgive the game despite the bugs. They will make excuses for the game, say it is not meant to be perfect at launch, that it is the age we live in and it is your own damn fault for not allowing Bethesda to fix things.

Bonus points will come when the irony does not sink in if the same Bethesda fan boys ripped New Vegas for being buggy as hell.

The rest of us with a brain will laugh so hard that we will die from lack of air.
They are the only company attempting such huge games, how the fuck can you expect it to be bug free?
See, missing the point entirely. You are defending Skyrim for potentially being buggy as all hell simply because a company you like is making it. If it was a company that you hate, or is popular to hate, you would be ripping them a new one. That is a bunch of blind misplaced faith that is not deserved at all.

Maybe that is problem this current generation of Western developed games have. If they took the time and fixed all of the issues to begin with, then the games would be enjoyable from the get go. I am glad that you accept C- plus work as a grade, but I do not. I like a game that works straight from the box because I expect quality for thing pay for. I prefer B+ where the only things left to fix are so minor that the game does not break if you do not fix them.

Conversely, I can play any RPG from Japan and not have to worry about all of the bugs. Even something like a Final Fantasy 13, with a world simultaneous release was a playable game.

Then the sky will explode and the seas will run red with blood, and I still won't care because I will be too disappoint.

I won't notice as I am so convinced it will be good that when I play it, my mind will block out all the bad bits.
Will you then ***** at every review who says anything slightly negative about it?
Hmm, I suppose I will have to block them out as well. Nice catch.

Note: My Captcha wants me to put an umlaut on an "n". I can't even imagine what that would sound like.

I don't really care if Skyrim is awful, I'm most likely not gonna get it anyways. Even if I do get it and it's terrible, there's still Mario Kart 7, Battlefield 3, and WWE 12 to fall back on.

It will not suck. This game will make me experience pleasure the likes of which my girlfriend only wishes she could achieve. It will not suck. IT WILL NOT.

I'll be waiting for reviews first so if it does suck, it's no skin off my nose. I hope it'll be good though.

This time around we have ... *google* Max von Sydow, a reputable actor who has appeared in various obscure films, but has also notably appeared The Exorcist, Minority Report and Ingmar Bergman's Seventh Seal, which was really good. He'll be playing one of the last remaining members of The Blades, who fall apart because of the fact that the Imperial Throne has been empty for so long that the Empire is collapsing. Great choice, the man has a good voice on him - and you've heard it before if you've watched the teaser trailer, that was him.

We also have *keeps googling* OH FUCK YEAH CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, who was in The Sound of Music and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, playing one of the Greybeards, an organisation of the oldest nords in existence who are masters of the magic of The Voice, and reside atop Mount Hrothgar (which if you haven't been looking into pre-release material, is the second-tallest mountain in all of Nirn, and features an ancient stone staircase of 7,000 steps from bottom-to-summit which must have been a total pain in the arse to design).
Oh, drat. I was expecting Morgan Freeman. I joke, it sounds good.

Smaller actors probably means they'll last longer.

The game comes out in like 3 weeks right? We'll find out just how good (or not) it is then.

P.S. I'm going to make a character who specializes in athletics and run up and down those stairs until my skill is maxed out. Or until I get bored.

It is going to suck for the first week or so.....at least until they fix some bad bugs, after that it will most likely be fantastic.

OT: If it does suck then it sucks, nothing to get worked up over and we will all just move on.

If it turns out bad, i'll be happily playing Batman Arkham City, plus, if it is average, i probably won't play it for more than 10 hours from lack of interest after stopping.

Bugs involving emergent behavior from hundreds of AI-scripted mods is expected in a large game.

The size of the game, however, has nothing to do with 'Save Games got erased whoops!' or 'Trophy support cause the frame rate to reduce to 1/sec' or 'how to level is fundamentally broken.'

Some bugs are systematic and should have been solved before the world-building phase, and have little to do with size.
Oblivion didn't have trophy support so I assume all of those examples are just speculating to prove a point
Game bugs were from Fallout: New Vegas, the first trophy patch from Fallout 3, and Oblivion respectively.

Bethesda's made games not named 'Oblivion' or 'Marrowind.' They have a track record.

I would love to hear your suggestion for GOTY then.
Arkham City's looking preeeeeety good, and it has the level of quality control I expect on a game release. Have you picked up that Dark Souls? THAT is a polished release. I don't expect bug free, but I DO expect game-crash free on common hardware releases. I expect 'free from graphic driver problems' on the consoles, because anything less than that is, and always has been, completely unacceptable. Hey, multiplatform releases that are game-killing-bug free you say? Impossible you say?

Bethesda makes ambitiously expansive games that always have a few horrible bugs that have nothing to do with their expansiveness. Oblivion was their fourth Elder Scroll game. Yes, ambition counts for something, but ambition doesn't make your game Game of the Year. Polish does.

This acceptable of game-crashing bugs, savegame deletion... of basic failures of quality control is an example of the PCification of the console-gaming market. The circumstances that permit certain leeway in the PC Market's acceptance of bugs (hardware configuration and driver issues) simply do not exist in the console market. Noticably frequent crashes should NOT occur. Period.

Major bug free isn't some impossible holy grail, it's the fucking standard on consoles and has been that way for thirty years. Major bugs on a console are completely preventable and must be caught in QC.

The fact is: PC Gamers have lowered their standards over the years of dealing with game developers (like Troika) who put forth incomplete or massively bugged games lacking simple basic expected functionality. You'll know those games by the recomendations. 'Yeah, get that game, it's awesome... just... make sure you run the patch first.... yeahhhh....'

It's happened often enough that you'll actually let a game developer like Bethesda slide on it because, hey, at least the game is huge! Sure. It's big and all, but if it crashes every hour or so because it doesn't know how to load a texture right, then it should rightfully go into the 'well, they tried' catagory.

When people complain about the voiceacting pool being small, they're refering to THIS [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlqdjdXS-uY&feature=related]

That isn't a 'size of world' fail, that's 'voice fx director didn't know what the fuck he was doing fail.'

Game of the year. Fuck.

Then I would be so happy. I really hope that for some reason, any reason at all, Skyrim bombs. I just think it would be so funny and perfect if it did. The hype is just so ridiculous and people are already declaring it their game of the year without playing it.

Impossible. The mod community will fix any problems that it has. If you own it for console, well, that sucks for you.
Remember. This statement means believing that the best way to beat Bethesda's paid and highly trained design team is to use a ragtag community of unpaid amateurs.
That isn't how I look at it. I look at it as a group of highly passionate and surprisingly skilled people doing all they can to make something they love even better. I am always impressed by what fan communities are able to do, despite their own limitations. I don't think it says anything negative about the actual development team, or the people involved.

Sorry for not being clear. No matter what Bethesda does with it, it won't please everyone. The mods are just icing on the cake.

Well, I have no preconceptions that it will be nearly as good as Morrowind (though it may scratch up there with Oblivion)

I don't think it will be bad though... Maybe not great, but not bad...

Though since you asked, if its as god awful as you say it is, it will give me one more excuse to read and do homework instead of play amazing games until Mass Effect 3 comes out.
