I pretty much exclusively play bass guitar. I can play a tune or two on guitar and keyboards too and if I had a drum set I'd also be a drummer. Mostly I just make music with digital instruments but still.
Thank you for enlightening me. Also, how old do you need to be to take those exams? And what instruments?GrinningManiac said:Grades are levels. You start at zero, and after learning all the new stuff in each level, you play in an exam to an examiner. You play a few songs, you play a few scales and you answer a few questions. If you do well, you advance in grades. They get progressively MUCH harder as it goes along.Reapd said:Excuse my ignorance, but what does grade mean?GrinningManiac said:Piano, Grade 6
Theory is a *****
Grade 6 is "The Grade" to which everyone aspires. At 6, you know all you need to know to play any piece. Grades 7 and 8 (8 is highest) are basically learning how to play REALLY stupidly difficult pieces.
My dream is to one day play Hungarian Rhapsody. First I will play it properly, like this (WATCH IT all the way through, please. It's the greatest piano piece on earth)
Then I will learn to play it with a friend...like Victor Borge here (Victor was the world's greatest, funniest music-based comedian)
WHat do you mean "play the audience?"FanofDeath said:I'm an average guitarist and a vocalist.
I also learned to play the audience in drama, if that counts.
You just can't resist threads like this can you?Aunel said:guess what I play

When people are in an audience, they become not a mass of individuals so much as a singularity. When you perform well, everyone knows it. You learn, in drama class, to use this theory/idea to herd their emotions through gestures. If the actor is "doinitrite", you will feel what everyone else is feeling and move like everyone else. It's a theory for acting and it works.Reapd said:WHat do you mean "play the audience?"FanofDeath said:I'm an average guitarist and a vocalist.

Man, theater is so much more interesting than I first thought! Thanks.FanofDeath said:When people are in an audience, they become not a mass of individuals so much as a singularity. It all really comes down to the efficient use of movement theories and character development. Your audience will always be able to tell if a character is being portrayed badly. Interestingly enough, the cast also becomes a singularity. The epitome of "The chain is only as strong as its weakest link".
