I always imagined that I'd spend the first few days, catching up with people, learning the myteries of the ages, and when I'd finally settle down... Brontosaurus ride to the Ice cream/lesbians cloud.

I imagine Heaven to be a resting place and a congregation event. Whereas your achievements made will be scored down on a large board - Whoever gets the most sits next to God.
So, basically like Xbox Live. Except the CEO of it would never, in a thousand years, shake hands with us greasy nerds.

OOOHH YES I WENT THERE!

An eternity spent with god-botherers. Thanks, but no thanks.

I'm an atheist and I believe when we die that's it, just like any other animal. To quote Hargreave from Crysis 2, "I think simple oblivion will do nicely."

Well there is "what is hell like" thread and i started thinking about heaven. It's always taken that heaven is this great place. but sometimes i wonder. i mean carnal desires are sinful so no sex. Gods light keeps it super safe so it's planet nerf with no risk. And if it's giant church in which we spend all day worshiping the god that is right there i dunno if i would consider that heaven.

All i know is, if heaven doesn't have a personal holodeck and a fast internet connection i dunno if it's as great as it's made out to be.
Common misconception, there is nothing against sex in the bible, all it says is that God made it special, he wants it to be between a man and a woman who love eachother alot. (pretty much marriage), so Heaven could technically have sex, but we wouldnt see any strip clubs. Plus you don't think God loves hooters as much as the rest of us? C'mon now lets get real. (BTW, I think it says somewhere that in heaven no one really has gender anymore. I think it says something like we will be like angels who are neither man nor woman. But whatever.)

Streets paved with gold, eternal happiness, talking to old heroes who have passed before us, and personal contentment. Pretty much utopia.

What was that? You're a good, honest person just trying to protect his family from the filthy local druglord "acquiring" your house and threatening to marry your daughter into servitude, while the cops just stand there and watch the injustice, shrugging at your "bad luck" while they buy donuts with their Bribe money?

Well, don't worry man. Everything will be FINE once you're dead. I mean, I can't prove that statement in any way whatsoever, but it's written in a 2000 year old book so it must be true....

/Sarcastic Militant Atheism.

But I don't believe in it so....

If I WAS in any way devout though, I would get 70 virgins or something in Muslim heaven. Beats what you guys get >:p

It's pretty good, there's a lack of chairs though

Edit: I'm starting to think that Hell is just a metal club that has a party for eternity with all the cool people that didn't go to heaven.

Edit: It turns out that God is Abe Vigoda and Abe just couldn't find the keys to the gate.

I entered this thread expecting a flurry of "lul its not real, dumbass", I'm actually kind of surprised it hasn't boiled down to that.

But my idea of Heaven is an eternity spent in an environment devoid of hatred. It's not spending the rest of time praising God, it's just an eternal time of peace and love. I know that sounds really hippie-ish, but that's what I understand Heaven to be like.

I believe Heaven to have a Beer Volcano and its complimented by an adjacent Stripper Factory.

Also i believe it works on your Good Karma/Bad Karma and/or Neutral level you finish your life on and therefor opening or closing VIP areas of Heaven

I always envisioned it as basically whatever the individual's personal paradise is, similar to the trope of personal hell.

And personally, considering how much sex there is in the bible, have never felt that things like necessary biological functions, unless taken to the extreme, so I don't foresee God banning the greatest possible physical euphoria he granted us.

And last but not least, as JD from scrubs would say: milkshake fountain and lesbian cloud.

Whatever i would most desire I suppose. I guess everyone gets their own little plot in heaven that changes based on what they want.

Or you can view it as everyone gets an alternative Universe you can travel between to see others.

Boring. Anything for eternity would get old. Unless the deities that be would alter your state of thinking or perception, like taking away Knowledge in a Garden of Eden kind of way- but seriously, fuck that. Then apparently youre dealing with deities that want nothing more than subjects to praise them and care nothing about what it really means to be human.

In Heaven there is no fault, and therefore no free will.

Ninja'd! (Presuming free will is the capacity to both help, and cause harm to, others, in which case, wouldn't free will exist as a matter of power, suggesting that what we possess isn't 'free will' as much as it is 'a tiny fraction' of 'true free will'?)

The Biblical description is quit possibly the most terrifying thing I've ever read.

"That there will no longer be any separation between God and man. The believers themselves will exist in incorruptible, resurrected and new bodies; there will be no sickness, no death and no tears."

Destruction of the self. You'll lose any semblance of an identity. You won't be able to feel emotions anymore. You will live forever, to watch the world die, then the stars, and finally the universe. Trapped for 10 billion years, then and eternity of watching nothingness. And eternity to go insane.

This, this, this. The whole point of practicing discipline and self-mastery in this life is so we can be happy in the next.
Because that makes sense.

...well, on second thought. Nevermind, it all kind of flows together.

Its whatever your vision of heaven is. So if heaven is a giant garage for one person, its a giant garage for that person.
