Whenever they say British its some English accent, no one likes the welsh :(
For whatever its worth, the reason I don't like the Welsh accent is it is hard to take seriously, it just sounds too jolly, the one exception for me is when the accent in question is being used for a character who is old, wise and good (where oddly it works perfectly) in pretty much anyone situation I just find the Welsh accent distracting (like in Deathly Hallows, why Bill Nighy? Why?)

I find the Scottish accent something to die for.
Me too, I don't know what it is about the accent but I think it is the chocolate of British accents and I have no problem saying that it is probably Britain's most attractive accent (despite being English and from the south east)

It does get a little annoying, when you have - your girlfriends sisters friends - 13 year old girls going "awwww how cute is his accent!"
Hmm, yes, that must get quite annoying. If you don't mind me asking, which part of England are you from?
I am from Hampshire, (North-of) in chavvy Andover! Nothing good to do in this town but go to the one half-decent club, or one of the many pubs...
My aunt lives in Andover!
Sorry.
Its awsome our accent.

Just a 'normal' one?
From the South East, so not Liverpool or Scouse, or Brummy.

I suppose its 'normal' for me, I don't know what a typical British accent would be like?
Why that's my accent too! Hampshire hi-five!

Anyways The southern accent is kinda typical, but it wouldn't be the one everyone thinks of when you say England... Still... I'm southern and I'm sexy...

I think there must be some air of sophistication or something that people associate with the accent.

Hell, Im told I have a kind of British-colonial/ New England accent, and its apperently strong enough that people cant actually believe im from Pennsylvania. I had one person ask which part of London I was from once.

British Accents are hands down my favourite in the world.

I love listening to their accent, Primeval did it for me! Now there does seem to be a fair bit of love for the Austrailian accent which I half understand.

I could just as easily say "What is it with the Irish accent?"
One of my English friends says that it's the most eargasmic accent she's ever heard.
Apparently the English love it.
She's not wrong, a soft Irish lilt can be seriously sexy. Oh, to meet a shy Irish red-head...
I tick two of those boxes... I enjoy not being ginger. :p

which British accent does she like ?
We're such a small, insignificant country we only have one accent. In reality, the majority of British accents make you sound like scum.

Well I'm a guy and I find pretty much any accent sexy. I guess because it makes those women stand out from the one's domestically.

Why do you never see a northern English accent in the media?

I'm from the North East, Middlesbrough to be precise... I've got people saying they love my accent a lot, and it's interesting I guess. British accents are incredibly varied, yet we only seem to find one sort of accent in TV, film or games. It's always that typical southern/posh accent.

My accent is NOT the Brummie one, but always gets mistaken for it because I live at the back end of nowhere an hour or so away from Birmingham. The term people have coined for my accent is "Yam-Yam", because when people with my accent talk quick, words take on a whole new sound. Or it could just be laziness.

Eg. "You are" becomes "Yow am". "Key" becomes "Kay". I know; it's awful.

Either way, I've learned that if I want to be taken seriously in any sort of professional capacity I need to tone it down a tad. Yam-Yam isn't a name I like, but it's apt, because it sounds as retarded as the accent does.

If you're wondering what it sounds like just listen to Noddy Holder or any other member of Slade talking. You'll soon see...

1234 posts, mikozero :)
Liverpool or scouse ...? Does she like Tom-ate-o's or tam-art-oe's? There the same thing.

There is no "normal" accent, I think she might mean "you have a different accent to me so I like it".

They am though ay they. I know people who live around that area who speak "yam yam", hard as hell to understand though.

I always find my predicament weird with accents. I have a Scottish (Fife to be exact) accent but it's not that broad, it sounds more like an Edinburgh accent. However, most of the time my enunciation is still pure Fifer leading to people not familiar with it to get confused as to where I'm from. I usually unconciously tone it down when I'm not around other Fifers but a couple of non-local girlfriends I've had have commented on how I go back to pure men'al Scoattish pronunciation when A'hm aboot ma parents.

Funnilly enough I've been asked several times by Americans if I'm British and I can't tell if that's because the populace of America at large has realised Scotland is part of Britain too, or if I just sound English.

I don't know about the rest of the US, but I'm just happy when I hear a foreign accent. Of course, I'm probably like the irritating native who's swarming with questions about where you're from and whatnot.

I don't usually like the Welsh accent too much, but now i just think about Rhod Gilbert's brilliant voice and love it.

Bleh. I wanna meet an American girl so she can get all gushy over my accent.

Same, havn't had much luck in England so perhaps i should go over to America and meet some of the women there and try my chances. XD

The problem is that i'm a northerner, and i sound like a bit of a scouser, who unfortunately don't have the best repudiated accents.

Tell me Americans, would i be able to melt girls hearts sounding like this guy?

I knew you werent British! You lying buttmunch! Go back to the gun control thread and admit to everyone that you arent British, just a lying turd.
Hahahahaha, no. Speaking as an Australian, we don't idolize the stereotype accent. I can say that the broad Australian accent is quite possibly worse then southern drawl and on par with cockney. He could still be British.
I am not saying he is Australian... just not British. And this isnt the only proof (his complete lack of any response even though I quite clearly called him out on it is an added bonus and lack of action is as good as an admission of guilt.).
