I just finished my freshman year in college and, seeing how it's a common small talk question, I thought I might ask.

I'm pretty set on majoring in Economics--haven't determined what my focus will be, but I don't need to worry about that for a while. It's not an easy set of classes, but it makes sense to me and I like it.
I'm thinking about picking up a double minor. One in stats, because it helps a lot if I'm going to Econ grad school. For the other I'm torn between Computer Science and Political Science. Pols would go well with Econ, but CS would be good in general. Both programs have really interesting classes too. CS has programming and a class on the logic and thought processes of viruses and hackers. Pols has classes on Nonviolent international relations and Political writers (I really like Political non-fiction).

I've just started my third year of a Law/Business degree. In business I'm double majoring in Economics & Finance, just because I like maths and want to make money, really.

It's going reasonably well, it all compliments itself somewhat, although I haven't really started specialising in my law degree, still sort of learning the basics. Will probably go into Tax law or Litigation.

My brother will be starting a computer science/economics degree next year, and I'm sort of jealous of him. Being able to program is going to be pretty important over the next few decades, so consider that if it interests you.

A lot of my law friends are into their political science. Young Conservatives, the lot of them. If you enjoy it, and it sounds like you do, go for it. It's never really interested me though.

Stats is reasonably helpful in Economics, although I never did it. If you get into Econometrics, then being able to work with statistics will help a lot. And most Honours courses will need you to do econometrics (at least, they do here).

I don't know how university in America works. I never paid attention to what individual classes made up each degree, partially because to get to the interesting ones you need to go through banal first-year papers for pretty much everything.

My degree will be an Associates degree in Networking and Database. Since I go to a technical college I don't really have a major or minor. I am in my final term there, begin my internship in a few weeks and I graduate in September. I'm thinking that I will stick more towards the database side of it since my dad is a consultant for a database program and I am rather good at it.

I'm currently double majoring in psychology and philosophy.
You might be surprised how much they complement each other.

I'm currently wrapping up my 4th year of college. After some ambiguous periods of not really knowing what I want to study, I have finally nailed down my major, I believe: a Bachelor of Science in Mass Media Production.

Based on what I have read/studied so far, it really sounds like something I can look forward to.

Currently in the senior year of college, finishing up a BS in computer science. Haven't minored in anything, just went straight computer science, all the way. I have not regretted the decision, so far. :D

Going for a Master's or Doctorate in English Lit. Want to be a professor and do writing on the side. Or write and be a professor on the side. Whichever gives me the ability to travel to more places. I'd love to travel.

Studying education at uni, majoring in science and PE. We have to "major" in two subject areas and learn enough in the rest to be able to teach them effectively.

Majoring in Psychology and a minor in Japanese. Mainly doing Japanese because I'm interested in Japan in general. My first semester is almost over and so far it's been pretty good.

Just graduated from my Bachelor of Economic and Social Science (fuckin loving not having to worry about essays, assignments and exams any more, though I don't seem to get as much housework done without something to procrastinate over).
Major was in Political Economy, and I did enough units of study to get a major in Studies of Religion but wasn't credited due to the nature of my degree. Worth the effort though (love some knowledge for knowledge's sake).

Majoring in biology, I'll start working on my master thesis in January, right now I am leaning towards marine biology, but it depends on what projects I can work with I guess.

My minor is chemistry, I didn't really have a choice on that one.

I am looking at majoring in Medieval Studies or History. Then I'll either work towards the doctorate or go to law school.

I've had my BEng in Electrical Engineering for a few years now. I had a blast in most of my courses and don't regret going this route at all.

I'm majoring in Management engineering with a minor in marketing. And since i'm sick of studying i will go straight to the job market next year (unless something goes terribly wrong with my master thesis)

I find American college really interesting. For the first year do you basically just study everything, and then pick what you like best to major in?

In the UK we just pick a subject when applying, and that's what we study. You can do the odd module of something else, but really it's pretty linear.

I'm studying history, for the record.

I don't understand the "Major/Minor" college thing in where ever you are from. Could someone explain how it works?

OT: I took a college course in IT Support followed by a Foundation Degree in the same.

Visual and Game programming.

Basically, I program games. It's time consuming but a total blast.
