Nothing that I've seen. All my music, movies and podcasts are nice and easy to access.

It's not. The problem is Apple itself. Any typical Apple installer will load your computer with excess Crapps if you're not paying attention: Safari, Quicktime, etc. From my experience, it will also try to slip them in with updates as well.

General rule: if it is Apple on Windows, try to avoid it.

I wouldn't call it malware. I really don't like iTunes, though. Interface issues and, for some reason, whenever I used it to burn a CD, it always comes out quieter. I tried tweaking with the volume adjustment settings (ie - the ones to try to get all songs the same volume level). No go.

I don't use an iPod, so I don't really have a need for their required software.

iTunes is fine. What sucks is that any music from the iTunes Store can't be used for anything but listening to on the iPod in crap quality.

I find Itunes to take forever, and freeze up my computer. Only apple product I consciously use is Quicktime because some of the older videogames I play only save screenshots in TGA format. (and even then I usually just change their file type.)

The problem most people seem to have is that they're installing Apple products onto a Windows computer, which seems completely retarded to me. Every piece of Apple software works smoothly on a Mac - aside from perhaps Safari, which tends to throw a big sulk and crash whenever I dare to have a Youtube video playing at the same time as an online game.

iTunes is better than that crap you call Windows Media Player for sure.

It's was either the interface was slow and laggy, or it wiped my crap off. I prefer winamp

It's never bothered me much. I just use it because I can't be bothered finding anything else.

I dont know if anything's wrong iwth it, but i dont use it. Its like a monopoly, so I dont support it.

But my friend uses it and he said it downloaded three programs he didnt want and made his comp run slower. Then each tuime he uninstalled it, it reinstalled the programs the next time he used it.

Chews up to much hardware for what it does, its super restrictive, its interface is rather annoying and its got an annoying habit of including other shit you don't want or won't ever use in its updates.

bad user interface, you have to format all your music to their format to put your music on to the player and/or their products, the music was up to recently DRMed, they limited the content to certain areas, its not always their choice, obscene prices, the few times i actually managed to find the album or song i wanted, another reason why people dislike it, the price was higher than on most competing sites, the recommendation system is complete garbage, despite 95% of the music i have on itunes is metal it keeps recommending the top 5 pop albums of this week, so apparently its based on sales instead of what genre music i listen to, when you download a update it forces quicktime on you, the constant updates i swear theres a new one each time i log on, when you plug your ipod into another computer that has itunes on it itunes will ask if it can delete all your songs instead of asking you if you want to play them, adding movies and music can be complicated for the average user and it abuses this to make you buy your music collection all over, but at a higher price and from them.

im sure there are other good reasons but those are the ones i have run into during my somewhat limited time spent with the program.

You all do realize that Quicktime is the thing iTunes uses to play music and videos and whatnot, don't you? That's the reason QuickTime gets installed.

In any case, I've never seen a better music library program, and certainly not one that integrates so well with what I do.

Perhaps on a Apple OEM computer, but that comment is pretty stupid. Windows media player has good music compatibility and is very stable on its native OS, which is on par with itunes. Both have their own aesthetics, and I would argue that both are fairly average, though it's completely reasonable for any person to prefer any given one. So, as music players they are largely on par.

Areas they are different are itunes has a strong online music store, where wmp doesn't really, however WMP doesn't try to sneak in other products with initial installs or updates (no apple, I do not want safari or Bonjour so please kindly fuck off), another advantage of itunes is that it will relatively easily convert music to apples propriety format, or, more usefully, to Mp3. Windows media player does not have these features, but it does do a few things itunes cannot for example; it can play all forms of media (video, image, music etc), natively mates to every setup of media hotkeys I've ever seen, is very compatible with new audio and video codecs as well as being impossibly easy to sync music to any non-apple device (yes, there are those of us who do not use ipods or iphones).

So uh, one could argue that one is 'better', but to dismiss the other as crap is rather shallow. Way to brand yourself as a mindless fanboy...

I do not like the interface. It is not very organized to say the least, at least compared to windows media player 12 on windows 7. I only use itunes because I have am ipod touch. For everything else, I use all wmp and vlc. I avoid itunes when I can.

OT: I don't know why it would be coming up as malware. You might need to take a look at your virus protection software.
