Dude, I wouldn't worry about Casey flying into a rage. It took three solid blows to the face before he reacted. And even then, he stopped immediately after the slam instead of continuing to attack.
Plus, now who'll want to fuck with him? People know he can and will fight back. And he's big. You don't fuck with people like that.

It was completely justified. The bully was attacking him, and I severly doubt this was the only incidence with this bully, let alone others. Heck, you describing it as a fit of rage was incorrect. He simply snapped, after years of bullying, and only did it to make him stop, not cause him pain. He even walks away right after dropping the bully.

natural selection.
Exactly this, anyone who's stupid enough to actively pursue a fight with someone twice their size deserves whatever results of it.

How exactly should he have responded? He was punched in the face 3 times....is it expected that he just embrace the blows, open armed until a third party breaks it up? His response may look brutal, but it was appropriate and relatively restrained.

Wow, I never knew how much support this guy was getting until now. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing to give this much attention to, because there will be people getting bullied who see this and attempt to recreate this with horrible results. There probably will be those who get a positive message and gain self esteem out of it but is it really worth this much attention really? This is also coming from someone who has been bullied so...

The way I see it the majority of people who are praising the guy probably suffered form bullying and see him as a hero or whatever.

I have nothing against the boy fighting back, but I do find it odd that everybody is congratulating him. I guess bullying is more serious than I thought.
Yeah, it is. For the person being bullied, it's dead serious. Especially when you're a kid, you haven't developed your personality yet, and you're very sensitive to social rejection.

You might remember hearing about a number of homosexual kids who killed themselves a while back because of bullying. That kind of psychological abuse is just as bad as any kind of physical violence.

They could have fixed that kid's broken neck and cracked skull (assuming he actually got injured that badly), but nobody knows how to fix the kinds of psychological damage that can come up for people who have been bullied their whole lives.

The bottom line, bullies are thoughtless cowards who abuse people for fun, and can get away with it because we have never considered psychological violence to be a real problem. People are congratulating Casey because it's rare to see a bully put in his place like that. Maybe it wasn't the best solution, but it was still friggin awesome.

I would have done the same thing more or less. Listen friend, self defense and putting a person in his place is actually a good thing. People that think they can do things like that to a person usually turn into horrible people if they don't learn their lesson early. People who don't want to hurt others will just fall victim to those that do, this is a lesson humanity seems to be trying to forget exists.
Lol.

While Casey had every right to flip out, piledriving the bully was not the way to go, as others have pointed out, if it went just a little differently the bully may have had unrepairable damage done to him. Violence isnt the answer people

ok mabye caseys didnt think it though but that other kid should have as well. did he not think that picking on a kid biger than him could result badly. i get it violence is not the answer but some times it is, ive had bullys that wont go away no matter what they dont care about punishment so no matter what their teachers or parents say or do thay keep doing it. as soon as they get a taste of their own meds they stop.

So Casey snapped, it happens. These little punks pushed him too far. I don't know what kind of mental state Casey himself is in and maybe after this, his parents will get him some therapy or something, but that punkass kid deserved it. And no, I was never a victim of bullying, I just think little punks like that should know their place.

Most have you have probaly heard / read the story of Casey the kid who got bullied and pile drove the bully into a sidewalk. There is a thread about it on this site, but on that thread and throughout the entire internet people are congratulating Casey
Casey nearly killed another child in a fit of rage, this is not a good thing! The bully wasnt right at all and should be punished but what about Casey? What is next time he goes into a rage fit he pile drives or pushes a kid and accidently kills them like he almost did already?
What if that's the risk you take when you bully someone?

He shouldn't be congratulated, but at the same point, you push someone, you risk them pushing back. I have trouble feeling sympathy for a sociopath who accidentally bullied someone who snapped. It's kind of like a rapist coming across a woman who happens to know Aikido. There's a good chance he's going to get screwed up, but in the commission of a pretty horrendous act.

What if, just saying, what if this should be a lesson? To everyone involved?

Also, it's not like he's likely to snap because he dropped his fluffernutter sandwich. It was a god damned fight.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he almost killed him. It has been made clear that the kid got away with only a slightly banged up knee.
But he is celebrated as a underdog hero, who stood up against his bully. And most people who ahve been bullied wish they could have done that.
He did almost kill the kid tho, had the little shit had his head a little further back he would have landed square on his head fucking up is neck and spine if not killing him putting him in a wheel chair. He was right to fight back, but I think just a putting him out with a punch in the head would have sufficed.
A punch to the head? no sorry but just no thats not enough for his kind, his kind deserves to be shot on sight to set a far superior example of not trying to shit around to make one look "cool" because as far as i'm concerned trying to suit to peers instead of ones self is just retarded and backwards in evolution.

I understand what you're saying overall but one thing kinda stood out to me:

"pushes a kid and accidently kills them"

Are we talking "push a kid into an oncoming train" or are we talking "push him so he falls on his rump and his brain processes magically cease"?

In general people aren't made of paper mache, I've found.

Well, overall I don't think violence is the answer, but I'd say it's better to let a bully know he can't push people around (frankly that's a message a lot of people all over the world could stand to learn) then let them push people around because you're afraid he'll snap in half.

herp derp you guys are just nerds who like to see proxies for your school bullies get beaten up

BECAUSE THE INSTINCTIVE DRIVE FOR VENGEANCE THAT MAKES US FEEL GOOD WHEN DICKHEADS GET WHAT'S COMING TO THEM, FOR RIGHT OR WRONG, DOESN'T OPERATE FOR THE REST OF HUMANITY

Ender's Game, anyone?
That's a rough comparison. The Casey and his bully are not in a shared restroom wrapped in towels, not a single one of them ends up naked and/or dead as a result of their fight and they are not in space learning to be raid canisters in human form.
Wrong fight. The first one, before he went to space.
Damn. Once again my attempts at wit and humour have been foiled!

All I have to say is you reap what you sow. That kid had it coming. Don't want to be piledriven? Don't bully. Negative reinforcement FTW.

You could still say that the bully is still alive, and not dead, and that Ender did not pile drive his bully. In any case...

I'm expecting young Casey to become the youngest person to save humanity.

What is wrong with the internet? Well I think that what is wrong is that many people on the internet can relate to this kids situation. I was bullied a lot as a child and man does it destroy your self worth. Don't forget this bullying went on for a long time, as it often does. Now I'm not saying that the level of violence was appropriate, but look, it hurts a lot to be treated that way for no other reason than being different. In those moments your not thinking rationally, you hate yourself and everyone who hurt you. It sucks. I'm torn here because I know where the kid is coming from, I fought back once - smacked the girl who was hitting me back as hard as I could. I got saturday detention for it. But suddenly I didn't feel so worthless. At the same time, one wrong move on that kids part and he could have dropped that kid on his head and caused serious damage. So yeah what is wrong is actually bullying. Many have suffered from it and many of us feel like cheering when we see someone stand up for it.

What's the question got to do with the internet?
Most people I've spoken to who've seen this have seen some little turd pick on a kid who fights back (with his 'mates' filming it for giggles I might add)

Not sure of the point of the original post tbh, are you trying to prove a point, if so what?

I was physically and emotionally bullied for close to three years of my life because I was overweight. I had a specific bully who would continually punch, kick, and otherwise physically injure me. One day, he shoved me down on the bus ramp and almost broke my nose. It wasn't bleeding, and it didn't even hurt all that bad. You know what I did? I jumped up amidst the laughter and put my FUCKING FIST into is smug face. He got kicked out, and I got no punishment.

I condone this kid. He did what I almost couldn't do. The funny part? I recently saw this guy in a cast. Turns out after I got done with him, some kid that was half his age shoved him down the stairs for bullying him. When he saw me, he came over and apologized. He said he had no idea that this was what I had felt like. We're close friends now!

My point is: An eye for an eye may leave the whole world blind, but its a damn sight harder for two blind men to fight.
