The new Thundercats. Everyone should watch it.ardencabbel said:I am constantly on the search for new television shows to try out. But the problem is that sometimes there are a lot of options, and so many positive (and negative) things people have to say about any given show. So I figure the best way to get a good sampling is to ask what everyone's favorite current television show is.
What I mean by current is simple: The show is in a new episode cycle. Ended series are ineligible and shows on a break are ineligible (shows like Burn Notice, as it is not currently airing new episodes). Also, please chose only one show. It can be really tempting to list one's current favorite two or three shows. But it almost always can be narrowed down to just one. This was hard for me, as I have a few shows I love the pants off of, but I was finally able to narrow it down to one.
So I will get the ball rolling. My current favorite show is 'The Mentalist'. The characters are well developed, and Jane is so much fun to watch. Add in the overarching plot line, and it balances the humor and dramatic narrative wonderfully.
So what is yours?
(And don't feel constricted to any one type. Live action, animated, anime ect... all qualify.)
Not too long ago I gave this show a shot. And it happened to be an episode with John de Lancie. I didn't hate the episode, but I think I will have to watch a few more episodes to get a good feel for it. One of the reasons for that is the network it is on. I fell in love with Dan Vs when I first watched it. Each episode of the first few made me love it more. Then it just fell apart and the humor changed to the point that it felt like a totally different show.Cavouku said:I'm sure a lot of people here are going to give you a lot of reasons, but I'll try and sum them up here for ya bud.lRookiel said:An idiot Abroad Season 2 is now out, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchants current Gem

Could someone please tell me whats so good about my little pony?
like a quarter of the escapist community have one of them as their profile picture and im wondering whats so good about it.
Basically, the show gets all A's in the technicalities. Animation and aesthetics work well together, and while providing a base line for visual design, offer freedom for cartoonish exaggerations and actions.
The voice acting quality is just perfect (but then again, anything less than would be noticed and picked on). It's got some big names, including Tara Strong being the main character (voice of Timmy Turner, Clara and Toot from Drawn Together, Bubbles from PPG, e-... You know what, she's done a lot of work, 'kay? Same goes for the other main voice actresses).
The plots are not overly complicated and deep, but perfectly structured, and the simplicity of it makes a sort of soothing element, allowing for change of tone and pace at any moment to be organic, and not really jarring from the experience.
The characters are well defined, fleshed out, flawed, and individual. You'll find a favourite sooner or later.
READ THIS IF TLR - Basically, it's the best that it can be, so whether you like it or not is totally personal taste. I'd recommend watching an episode, but it takes some guts to make that first dive. I would personally recommend the first two episodes of season 2 more than anything, and then backtrack later.
Star Trek fan at all? Q, from Next Generations is playing the main villain in the newest episodes. I can link a combination episode if you want, commercials cut, full 44+ minutes included.

First step is the hardest.
(EDIT: 43 minutes, but technicalities. Still, if you've got the guts, try it out.)
You've deprived me of my original answer. Curses.ardencabbel said:What I mean by current is simple: The show is in a new episode cycle. Ended series are ineligible and shows on a break are ineligible (shows like Burn Notice, as it is not currently airing new episodes).
I watched the first season when it was airing, but didn't really get into it. I should give it another try, as I am sure it is much different from it's first season. Thanks for the recommendation!Kakulukia said:Dexter starts Sunday on Showtime. It's the sixth season, but it's a brand new story arc every season, so you should be able to keep up if you don't mind some spoilers. And it's fucking amazing. First episode was leaked (most likely by Showtime itself) too, you could get an early peek if you find it.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on Weeds. I loved the show for the characters and the humor. The humor has all but disappeared, and other then Silas, I don't care about any of the characters anymore. That is especially tragic for me with Nancy. She was a great character, now she doesn't have a single redeeming quality in my opinion. Sad....WeAreStevo said:I'm really digging Breaking Bad right now. I want the final season to be released now. For serious.
Other than that, Modern Family is hella funny. I'd give it a go.
I used to be massively into Dexter and Weeds, but now I'm kind of feeling "meh" about them. Dexter's last season sucked compared to previous ones, and Weeds has been going downhill fast...
It's been said but... Breaking Bad. Absolutely amazing. The cinematography is outstanding, the acting is excellent, the plot is interesting and no show has a way of putting its characters in situations that seem IMPOSSIBLE to get out of like "Breaking Bad" does... and then somehow showing them getting out.ardencabbel said:So I figure the best way to get a good sampling is to ask what everyone's favorite current television show is.
