Space Quest V, Myst, and Riven. I was only 7 at the time, but I beat all of them. I wasn't smart enough to beat them without help, but I was smart enough to learn how to use the internet and look up walkthroughs or find strategy guides on Ebay.

Yeah, The first 2 duke Nukems, The Commander Keens (Every 3rd was free ware), and the Kings Quest Series.

Long live the Coconut Monkey!

EDIT: I liven in the Duke Nukem 3D level editor for a year... THE only thing buggier than Windows... ever.

i forgot to mention DESCENT.

when am I going to get a Descent or Descent-like game on a modern platform? I miss that game!!!!!!!!!
You said it my friend! A first person shooter where you are flying around in all directions being attacked from all directions at once...brilliant! I'd love to see a Descent game on the Wii.

OMFG someone else who remembers this game! It was great.
It's still fun too! I recently installed it with DosBox and it's a lot of fun!

Age of Mythology (too recent perhaps?), Pharaoh, Simcity 3000 Unlimited, Need for Speed 4&5 are all terrific PC games from back in the day.

Going REALLY far back, how about SimTower?

The Incredible Machine was probably one of the earliest PC games I played. Big time killer right there. We picked up the original, back in good ol' 1993.

More recently, Baldur's Gate (1998, so still 11 years old) was one of the last great RPGs.
