Galaxy Quest. Funny. Good characters. Awesome premise. Just all around well done and watchable.

The Fifth Element. Funny. Love Milla and Bruce and Gary in this. Save the world! Just so good.

Kingdom of Heaven. Fight scenes. Philosophy. Fanatism and Chivalry and Greed. Humility. The Saviour. Surprisingly humane and unreligious. Quite spiritual to me. My go to when I need to watch something epic, and need something to center me.

Not what you thought it was I bet! It is by far my favorite film, some of it's nostalgia but I do love cheesy and giant robots in stuff, so it fits new things I currently like too.
Not sure if Transformers fan making Highlander joke, or Highlander fan using Transformers pic as a joke...
I was stating there is only one go to movie for me, my avatar should hint at which it is.
Not sure if I'm using Unsure Fry meme wrong, or if poster didn't get it...

I am not a film man. Irony of all ironies, sitting there gob-smacked, doing nothing except watching flickering lights for about 90 minutes makes me twitchy and bored. Same guy who no problem sunk 70 hours into skyrim. I just generally don't get films.
But my god.
I am always entertained by one bizarre creation:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
It's upbeat, it's just the right kind of quirky and it's beautifully cast, with great songs.
There was a time when I could recite it word for word you know.

That would have helped if you used the image I would think.

Not the "greatest" movies, but I can always sit down and watch "The Simpson's Movie" and "Get Smart"

Just something about them, it's so... appealing
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
I don't know. Are you thinking "Holy shit. Holy shit. A Swordfish nearly stabbed through my face. Holy shit."?
Well, that is a sucker punch to the gonads to find someone else who likes that movie

I saw The Royal Tenenbaums for the first time earlier this year and have since watched it 5 times. I don't think I could ever get bored of that film.

Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Watched those fucker so many times.
I also watched Boondock Saints for the first time recently and it seems to fit the bill.

I can pretty much watch any of the old 70s/80s comedies and still love them:

Spaceballs
Caddyshack
Any National Lampoons
Weird Science
The Breakfast Club (or any John Hughes movie for that matter)
Animal House
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
The Three Amigos

I'm another who watches The Shawshank Redemption every single time it's on. Have seen it easily 20+ times. Favorite movie of all time

Really? I know like four people who loved it too. It's hilarious. Like the chatter paying off when the big guy helps them... then immediately betrays them. What a douche.
Or Bill Murray guarding the secret entrance to Control by hiding in that tree. He's so lonely.

This'll probably come as no surprise to anyone that's seen my posts in the past.

Aliens (1986)

This is the movie that I'll never be disappointed to watch. This is the movie I'll watch if I want to watch something, but don't feel strongly about what. This is the movie I'll put in as background noise while I'm gaming. This is the movie I've probably watched a hundred times, and would be perfectly happy to watch a couple hundred more.

I love 80's science fiction and action movies, I love practical effects, the casting was excellent... it's just an all-around perfect movie when it comes to my preferences as a movie buff.

Runners-up would be The Thing (1982) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).

Ratatouille, The Dark Knight, The Avengers, Back to the Future, and The Lord of the Rings are all favorites of mine.

Sort of counts: Band of Brothers. Have watched the whole show start to finish at least four times.

To be perfectly honest, if Shaun of the Dead is on TV right now, I'll get up and watch it (quoting it along the way).

But the one movie I watch every year (It's my holiday tradition) is Kevin Smith's First (and best) movie, Clerks.. I saw it when I was thirteen years old on Christmas Eve, and when I bought it two years later, I made it a tradition to watch it every holiday.

It is the movie that highlights some part of my life, some part, within the film. Every year, I watch it, and I laugh, or I get caught up, or quote whole scenes, but I still love this movie. It is the movie that made me appreciate movies. Over the last couple of years of thinking about my ex-girlfriend (That's done now, for reals), I can always hear Randall say to his cohort, Dante, "If you want to be with Caitlin, be with Caitlin; if you want to be with Veronica, then be with Veronica, but don't pine for one and fuck the other", and have it echo appropriately for me in my life.

If I complain about my job, I can hear Dante say "I'm not even supposed to be here today!", and if I ever have a girlfriend that admits to fellating 36 other dudes... well, I have a movie to refer to should such an event happen.

I can still hear Randall deliver the porno list and crack me up every single time.

It is my go to movie, still.

The Pirates of Penzance, The Mouse That Roared and Rifftrax Live: Jack the Giant Killer.

Pirates because I just love the songs so much that I can just pop it in, start watching and sing along and no matter what it puts me in a good mood.

Mouse because: a) It's really, really funny, b) It has a lot of happy memories attached to it, and c) I don't care if he was a collossal douche to everyone he ever met, I still love Peter Sellers and everything he ever did

And the Rifftrax of Jack the Giant Killer because it is possibly the single funniet thing I own, and even though I can practically recite every joke from memory at this point it never fails to make me laugh

So yeah, those are my three go-to movies that I watch at least once a year each

My "go to movie" is Walking With Dinosaurs, even though it isn't really a movie. I really enjoy watching it and sleeping to it.

Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds, Kung Fu Panda, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Despicable Me, Iron Man 1 & 2, and Captain America: The First Avenger.

There are a few other movies I can go to, but they are usually 2 hrs long and if I just want to watch a movie, I'd choose any of the above.
