Perhaps in the circles of metalheads.

But if i were to ask someone from my school if they have heard of opeth, probably 80% will say no. As far as i know, my group of friends know opeth from me. And all other people ive met, cept one.
Seriously? I thought that they were more known then that.

I like Jamie t... but I seem to be the only one.
Ermm he opened Glastonbury (I think it was Glasto, he played the night before the festival traditionally begins which is a pretty big honour); trust me other people have heard/like him

I personally think he's amazing and panic prevention was one of the best albums of recent times; haven't got Kings and Queens yet

Jonathan Coulton. The guy who wrote the portal song. You know, for Portal.
Yeah he defiently needs some more credit; any game where I re-complete it just for the credits is pretty damn worth credit. (Oh and I did love portal so it wasn't a chore re-completing it

Reeperbahn, a swedish pop/rock band and 10cc, a group that has made a big variety of songs from rock to "semi-opera" (like Queens Bohemian Rhapsody)

The Avett Brothers. They are wonderful but no one knows who they are.

If you aren't rap or country it is really hard for you to get a base going now days. Any Alt. Rock groups are having a hard time these days. Atleast where I live.

Coheed and Cambria. Also Travis Barker and Tre Cool are amazing drummers stuck in bands that don't let them exercise all of their talent (I do love Blink 182 and old school Green Day though).

Stephen Lynch.

As for a more 'serious' musician, I think Aynsley Lister could probably start a revival of the blues rock genre all by his lonesome, but thanks to massive pop monopolys gets pretty consistently screwed over. Actually, apply that to all up and coming rock, blues, and even metal artists.

Flobots, Flogging Molly, and Rise Against. Awesome bands, but never hear them on the radio. Although that may be a good thing.

Aye, you accursed ninja. Just picked up Float yesterday, and love their sound.

Be happy that these people aren't famous my friends. It means they haven't stooped so low as to suck Satan's cock for it.

I mean seriously, how else do you think Vanilla Ice got into the charts? Giving the devil a blow job, that's how!

Trust me, after being on the THPS4 soundtrack, many people have heard of them. Still a great band though. Not as keen on the last CD though (can't think of the name of it for the life of me).

Anyway, on-topic, I'd have to say Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

I believe your talking about Float and I agree with you. It''s definitely not bad, but it was nowhere near as good as Within A Mile of Home or Drunken Lullabies...

And yes, i do overuse the italicization feature.
