I haven't seen one of these in a long time. So I figured what the hay. What game series do you think needs a revival?
A few qualifiers
1) The series in question has to have been absent from publication for years. Give or take about 3-5 or so. Its not the best window but the idea is that it hasn't seen a new entry into the series in years.
2) It can't be a series you think needs a reboot. i.e. Sonic the Hedgehog or Call of Duty as those series have seen publications though lord knows they could use a reset back to zero.
3) No proper or improper sequel schtick. i.e. "This game had a spinoff/sequel but it doesn't count because X." The series saw publication in some form even if it wasn't the original company or wasn't up to some arbitrary standards.

So there we go. The ground rules. Now because I like to hit the low hanging fruit in my own threads some game series I think need revivals.

Crash Bandicoot
Jak and Daxter

Starfleet Command.

The spirit has been continued in Star Trek Online, but I'd love to not have to play an MMO that sells entire new ships at a premium price with a very high amount of grinding required to obtain them through normal play, like most FTP games.

Soul Calibur needs to come back to Nintendo. Everyone knows Soul Calibur II was the high point of the series, especially the Gamecube version which outsold the other two systems (because everybody wanted to play as Link.)
This isn't exactly what I was talking about.

Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon (Spyro appears in Skylanders, but Skylanders is a completely distinct franchise that just happens to have him as one of its characters, so it's not atually a spinoff) and Banjo-Kazooie were all a big part of my childhood, so I'd really like it if they were to come make a return.

I'd be up for a new Breath of Fire or Wild Arms game (preferably not just a reboot), or any other classic SNES/PS RPG as long as the game is faithful to the original/series to some extent and not just capitalizing on the nostalgia associated with the name.

A sequel to the Gargoyle's Quest / Demon's Crest series would be fantastic. Except that's a Capcom franchise and I have zero confidence that they'd pull it off well these days.

Well, there goes my original choices... Though, Jak and Daxter were SO CLOSE to getting the reboot... (Though, given that situation, it seemed for the best...)

OT: The Mother series... I don't know how... But, even if it can't, I'll be fine with a trilogy re-release this time to include US/UK release...

(I would have said Rayman... but, Origins and Legends would get mad at me for betraying them like that...)

Assassin's Creed.

/sarcasm

Seriously though Unreal Tournament. I want some crazy arena combat with double jumping, Jack hammers and flak cannons.

Brothers in Arms

The ending of Hell's Highway screamed sequel bait until it was blue in the face, but then Borderlands happened. Since then, nothing for nearly five years.

Actually, I'm not really sure if I'd like to see this, given Gearbox's track record lately.

Banjo Kazooie. That series hasn't seen much life since 2008, then it just... went dark. like the bear and bird got condemned after not selling enough to please the Microsoft execs. Now all Rare makes is mediocre Kinect games, so that series is most likely going to languish in video game purgatory for a long time still. Such a shame.

Sierra Citybuilder (any setting), Lionheart, Zoo Tycoon, NVN... I could go forever.
Id also love a modern version of Spore, imagine what awesome stuff you could make with a modern pc.

Seriously, those games were fun as hell, I want to play more of them! They were great games with real challenge.
This, all ym this.

For years I've sorely missed playing as sir daniel fortesque while having both laughs and tricky moments in those Medievil games and i'd love to see a brand new game for the new current gen systems more than anything.

I'm going with Space Harrier.

I think that ZOE was it's "gameplay" successor and now that Kojima has effectively killed that franchise, I think there is room for Yu Suzuki to revive his old franchise.

Yes. We need more of Sir Daniel Fortesque.

We also need more Crash Bandicoot as made by Naughty Dog. God those games are awesome.

I'd really like to see Unreal Tournament make a comeback, that might just be my 2nd favorite series of all time.

Ogre Battle!
Granted, it doesn't quite qualify for the listed criteria, unless you don't count re-releases, since the last time the series saw publication was in early 2011 when they remade the 2nd game in the series and released it on the PSP. And even then, that's only two months before it hits the early point of the window OP mentioned.

The last time the series got an (actually new) release was back in 2001! And it was great! And I enjoyed it! Though I'm convinced I'm the only person who ever has...
Plus the series is named after a Queen song, and takes subtitles from other Queen songs! How can we let this die?!

Yeah, I'd love to see Crash Bandicoot get a revival. So much cool stuff in those games. The NaughtyDog ones I mean.

Of course, Timesplitters is my personal choice...and it is getting revived. I just hope to hell it works.

This choice might be a silly one...maybe I could fill the void with a JRPG or two...but I'd like Level 5 to make another Dark Cloud/Chronicle-esque game. Not necessarily Dark Chronicle, but I'd enjoy something similar.

In the late bronze age there was this zelda knock off on segas master system called "Golvellius".
You run around, defeat the evil that befell the land and rescue the princess. After defeating the boss you get told that the valiant hero will now go and search for his long lost sister, which is the first time you hear of her and the fact that the hero apparently has family.
Credits roll, game is over.
Well, Sega, it's about time you told me how that adventure went.
Then again, Sega became well known later for kicking the fans in the nuts.
Sega "invented" "episodic" games in the Saturn/playstation/N64 era and promptly fucked it up.
"Shining force 3" was to be this epic trilogy saga, so you could buy "Shining force 3, part 1" outside of japan.
For a full price, this part one was certainly big enough so it's not like they delivered too little in the length department. Very nice game overall with a rather compelling story.
Wanna know how it continues? Well, start learning japanese because shining force 3 parts 2 and 3 only came out in japan.

One console generation later, we got to play "Shen mue". The inventor of quicktime events, back in a time where you weren't already tired of those before you started playing.
The main character's dad gets killed and you chase after him. You eventually board a ship to hong kong and with that, the game ends.
Wanna know what happens next? Start learning japanese. Although, the english dub in the first game was quite gruesome, so maybe you where lucky if you already learned japanese for the shining force games :p
So now you could play part 2 of the shen mue.
And after that the chances of anyone buying any kind of episode from sega where severly diminished because the Shen mue story never got an ending.

By the way, whatever happened to that episodic sonic game?
