Wow. I take back what I said about the originals being available in some way. I had no clue he was actively trying to discontinue the original theatre versions...Unless he IS, but only so that then he can release the originals for a ton of money for a little extra milking.The_root_of_all_evil said:Lucas is very specific about what parts of the trilogies he releases. And even he wears the T-Shirt that says "Han Shot First".AyreonMaiden said:There aren't any physical copies of the originals anymore? I didn't know that...The_root_of_all_evil said:We would, but Lucas prevented the originals from being re-released - instead preferring his altered versions.AyreonMaiden said:You enjoyed the originals? So enjoy your originals.
I feel that way everytime I see an advert for "The making of", Torchwood or a number of other things.I never in my post condemned such nerds. I never said anything to belittle nerds in my post. My tone was angry, yes, because I AM sick of seeing this sort of attitude about stuff that honestly eludes me.
Can you tell me with a bold and straight face that you've never felt that way?
Which is why I parried rather than condemned. If you're a charging rhino, it sometimes helps to see what you're charging over.In a ranty way, yes, but you WERE warned at the top of my post.
Equally, I don't see people as wrong for liking the prequels, but with the knowledge of what has been done over the the idea what could have been done...it hurts at times.Whatever the case, I never said you or anyone else is "wrong" for doing things their way.
Especially when I see the beautiful things that others have done with the Universe, only to be crushed under Lucas's chokehold.
What really makes me angry though, is when people tell me that's due to "nostalgia", or "not being a child anymore". It's not. It's seeing something only allowing its worst side to surface.
I can understand how you and a lot of people feel, though. I personally pick and choose what I take from any franchise, but it can be crushing when you see the potential and the maker doesn't. Maybe my hostile attitude towards those things serves as a shield to prevent me from being too crushed when my hopes don't pan out or when authors lose their minds. And to be fair, I simply haven't experienced the sort of soul-destruction that Star Wars fans endure still. I like Star Wars a fair bit, but I wasn't born in time to be truly enchanted by it. Harry Potter ended without disappointing me in that regard, and JK Rowling hasn't lost her mind yet either.
So I guess it WOULD help if I noticed what I was trampling before I rhino-charge over it, huh? ^^;
Actually, writing this out reminded me...the original Star Wars trilogy I saw was on VHS, and already had digital enhancements. That really, really sucks. I may have conditioned myself to not care if authors do it, but that doesn't mean the idea is good.
