What single player games should have online game modes?

There are the occasional single player game that i look at and go hmm this would make a great multiplayer game.

The first game that comes to mind for me is oblivion elder scrolls 4.
I think if they had the funds and the capability to make a game with a huge multiplayer world it would be fun as online. Like owning houses and shops etc. Swapping etc.

Any other ideas?

Evil Genius. One madman striving for world domination is enough, but several? That'd be one amusing clusterfuck.

This might sound silly but how about assassins creed 2. Like race modes, capture the flag events and battles etc.

Saint's Row 2 would of been fun with more than 2 player coop but that's all I can think of right now.

That and Fallout 3.

Can't think of any. I'll pick good singleplayer over good multiplayer any day.

The exception are fighting games, I'm really competitive about those and you just can't have a mate come over every single day. And they're likely to get bored as they seldom share my enthusiasm.

Saints Row 2 had 2 player co-op.
Yes, I meant more than that :| Not to say that it was bad, but it would have been more interesting with 4 player coop.

Oblivion could use a Co-op or up to 4 but any more and it becomes like Furburt said, stupid.

I think the total war series needs more than just multiplayer battles.

Batallion Wars needed online, or at least local multiplayer. So did Fire Emblem.

It sure would, but my guess is that the clunky old game engine would have had a hernia with any more than two players.

I was thinking this earlier actually, not so much the modes you mentioned but how much fun would it be to attempt to outsneak everyone else online and attempt to assassinate each other?

Can't really think of any... Most single player only games are made with a specific mindset that wouldn't really facilitate more players. Zelda or mario for example really wouldn't work outside of some derivative mini-games, and that'd probably sully the whole experience anyway...
