Medal of Honor on the Playstation was the first console FPS I can remember really liking but I cant remember if Golden Eye was out first. Quake 2 on Playstation had an awesome multiplayer, I lost at least 2 whole summers to that one.

No, but the multiplayer and certain sections are.

Wasn't Banjo-Tooie third person?
In fact, Banjo-Kazooie came out first, didn't it?
Yes, but I havnt played Banjo-Kazooie for years and years and I dont remember if it has first person segments =)
it didn't.

o.t: goldeneye was probably the first console exclusive fps that was really, really good, but then there is also(as has been brought up.) duck hunt.

Was intended to be. Sense you can play golden eye on a N64 emulator i guess its not anymore either.

But if Duck Hunt qualifies into the category what are we talking about? Wasn't Duck Hunt more closely related to an "on rails" point and shoot game? By FPS I think most people assume something with a camera for a head with guns and grenades, threaded by a story however thick or thin it may be. Duck Hunt wouldn't technically fall under the category of the topic would it? At least, if I understand what the topic creator is asking.

You're still technically playing it as a N64 game.
This is true it was meant to sarcasm. Also http://pc.ign.com/articles/364/364726p1.html [/smug]

while i do agree that goldeneye was the first console exclusive (not doom) to "do it right" it does seem horrible to control now that we are all used to dual analog sticks doesnt it?

Unghhh, yes. Yes it does. I recently went back to the N64 controller. Honestly, I felt criminally incompetent. Back when I used to play Goldeneye the controller felt incredibly simple, trigger is boom boom, Z is crouch, Etc. But I don't think it would be improved on the 360 controller, since the N64 controller was simplistic at the time and (kind of) easy to get used to.

Well, I actually didn't get to pick up the game until 2007, and hell, I loved the game! I guess it took some getting use to, but after that, I had no problem with it. I can actually back and forth between the controls with out a problem.

Anyways, yes, I'd have to say Goldeneye!

I really don't think there's much of a contest.
Damnit, i was gunna say that.

The 4 player Co-Op scream fest with friends will never be forgoten.

I can't remeber the map but the one that had the retractable bridges has some of the funnest games.
