The very, very first was probably solitaire or something similar, on a laptop running Windows 3.1. I couldn't have been much more than 3, so sometime around 1993? My dad was using the built in windows games to teach me how to use a mouse. Anyway, it was very shortly after that that I was introduced to consoles. My great aunt, who used to baby sit me, had an Atari 2600 and an NES. I'm really not sure what I first played, but Berserk, Ms. Pacman, Keystone Capers, Pacman Jr., Donkey Kong, and Pole Position were favorites on the 2600, while Super Mario Bros, Contra, Jackal, and G.I. Joe were some of the games I played on the NES.

That part of my life is a bit foggy in my memories, but it's either Civilization or Bubble Bobble.

My first game was either A Link to the Past or Jazz Jackrabbit. Or maybe it was Day of the Tentacle?

The three kind of blur together for me, but I remember constantly bugging my mom to boot up DOS so I could play Jazz. I also remember sneaking the controller away from my mom when I watched her play A Link to the Past to get her past a point she was stuck at. It always drove her insane that her 3 year old child was better at the game than she was. =P

The two that stick out in my mind are Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Sega Genesis, and Math Blaster for PC. Hell, now that I think about it, Math Blaster's probably the reason I'm so good with numbers.

It was an arcade game called Bazooka, around 1981, at an arcade near my grandmother's house. Whenever we went out for dinner, my grandfather used to take my 6-year-old self and my cousins there afterwards. I remember having to use a long-legged stool to be able to see the screen.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of how weird it sounds for a six-year-old boy to frequent an arcade, especially at night, but that's just how it was back in those days, when videogames were such a novelty here in Brazil.

No wonder I became such a hardcore gamer after that...

EDIT: Just for the record, someday my two-and-a-half-year-old nephew will be able to post on a forum like this one and mention how he used to sit on his uncle's lap and "play" Super Street Fighter IV by moving the mouse around, while yelling "K-O!" everytime someone gets beaten... and the family tradition will live on.

This was one of the first two games I played:

and it looked like this:

Aaaah, those were the times..

FYI, the first game that really got me hooked and really started my love for videogames was the now legendary first Super Mario Bros. on the NES.

I think it was either...

Pokémon Blue (my friend's, he let me borrow it for a few hours at summer camp)

Scooby Doo Mystery Mayhem (my first GBA game)

or Ratchet and Clank (at a different friend's house)

No idea which came first though. I have a horrible long-term memory.

Worms, the original one for the PS1. I spent many a hour in my youth playing it over and over. The other game I used to play a lot back then was Oddworld: Abe's odyssey.
