Since it was Cabin in the Woods, and I had ALREADY seen it (good, not great), I'll go with the movie I saw a day before: Lords of Salem...
Yeah... Just no. I saw House of 1000 and Devil's Rejects both by Rob Zombie, I love them, so I didn't think twice before PURCHASING Lords of Salem (after my girlfriend insisted she wanted to see it, I got her hooked up on Rob Zombie for good it seems...). And in the first few moments of movie I was screaming DAFUQISTHISHSIT?! At the TV screen, my girlfriend was holding tight to me scared as she was (I really don't think she should see this stuff if she gets sacred this easily) and her brother was leaving the room because he had an exam earlier in the morning. What I saw was a handful of cheap nonsense, stuff like "I saw you finally rented that room you're always trying to rent" "no I didn't, there's no one living there" "but I just saw a man in there, he closed the door at me" "no you must be mistaken", and just like a Jedi trick the girl leaves unworried that SOMEONE shut the door on her face in an apartment where no one is supposed to be living in!!!!!!!!! And then there's the scene with that beast that looks like a king kong and whatnot, look, this is not Machete or House of 1000 Corpses, it's not TRYING to be a B-Movie, it tries to be taken seriously, and I'm not the sort of audience that takes this sort of cheap horror moments lightly when it's trying to sell itself seriously...
