Grrrreeeeaaaaatttt... So this is pretty much a "What state are you from?!" thread. Well, I'm from Colorado, so that's the best state. Easy. I win. Thread closed. Unless someone else is from a different state, in which case, THAT state's the best

I've lived in several states and countries, to be fair.

I'll have to take your word on that. I've been to Florida a few times, but I never noticed the driving being that bad. But it was always visits, never lived there.
I'm also putting it to the same caveat I made for people types, I'm sure every state has poor people, drivers, whatever. The larger the state and the more attractive the locale, the more they'll probably seem to congregate. As an example I've been through Atlanta, Georgia before and boy howdy I'd never want to drive through there again. Also Jacksonville, Florida has some insane people driving through there... rush hour at 6am, 80+Mph, bumper to bumper and heavy lane switching at insane speeds without blinkers. Its like they all communicate by telepathy or something because they were fairly coordinated but insane nonetheless.

Are you kidding? I live in Vermont, a state which is like the worst elements of the US and Canadia. Plus, we're the monsters responsible for Phish. Clearly, I cannot vote for my own state!

Well, I suppose if the other 49 were worse....

Washington: for all the reasons that the guy said about Minnesota plus our handegg team isn't absolute crap AND we have every major type of environment the US has to offer except arctic tundra (in some cases we're the only place with it.)

Oh, that and pot is legal here.

Only downside is the people that live in the majority of the landmass of the state constantly whine about Seattle controlling the political process (when the state population is 2 million and 1.2 million of them live in the Seattle metro area, that area is going to run the show.) Well, that and being the only state in the country that understands that "damp" is a color.

I've heard about Texas, especially Houston. And Korea as one of my best friends is living over there doing civilian contractor work for the US Army. I meant that we get a lot of bad drivers from other states that congregate here, like they got kicked out of their own state for shit driving. There are places in Florida that I refuse to use certain roads because of the shit drivers that frequent them and tend to use back roads/state roads over interstates and freeways.
Yeah, but as I say to Eclipse, your state is the only one to have Flo Rida in the name. That's gotta at least put you in the top 20.

Kind of a silly complaint, since that's the situation in a lot of states.

That's how principalities voted 2008. Wanna guess where Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are? And who won the state?

Well it's not California that's for sure, the mixture of authoritarian laws and poor resource management combined with much of the culture makes the place both expensive to live in and horrible to exist in as well.

Personally, I'm not well acquainted with the USA's states but from what I know aside from Cali, I'd actually have to say that it would be one of the midwest states like Arizona where they somewhat strike a balance rather than tipping too far from one side or to the other.

It's because there's only one city large enough to really be called a city in this state: Seattle metro stretches from the state capitol almost all the way to Canada. Meanwhile the other two "major" cities in the state are either part of another states largest cities metro area (Vancouver is usually referred to as North Portland) or is the only city to be had between Seattle and Minnesota (Spokane.) But honestly, voter participation is usually extremely democrat in more densely populated areas (probably because you actually SEE the problems that are being talked about) and extremely republican in rural areas.

Nope that's Wyoming.
Jesus, 584,000 people? How are they still a state? Shouldn't we role them up into one of their neighbors for simpler book keeping or something?

Living in Coeur d'Alene I can say Spokane is big enough for me. I hate going there. I just have my friend Amanda drive me around if I need to. Anyway I live in north Idaho and we may as well be part of Washington. Hell we share the same time zone with them and not the rest of our state.

Well speaking as one of there neighbors I'm fearful of living in the same state as Dick Cheney.

New Hampshire, because while it's not as good as the original Hampshire, at least it has the right idea.

The same is also applicable to New England, New York and New Jersey, which again follow the proud tradition of American remakes not quite living up to the original and somewhat missing the point, but they're still better than the most of the other states with silly names, such as Delaware or Mary Land.

Apart from that, I know absolutely nothing about US States... but I guess it's better to judge a book by its cover than not pass judgement at all.

Look, we're really sorry about the tea. We've tried apologizing before. We really are sorry.

What will it take for you to love us again?

That's like asking what's the best country... There's more than one answer! Besides, the US is like 50 countries all under one super-country, anyway...

*ahem* Oh right... Best US state... uh... THE MOON! /micdrop

I didn't have any, but I did put on a hat instead. It's pretty parky in here, unlike the homeland of hotness that is Florida.

Well for a start, it would help if you realised it was never just about the tea...

Tea tea tea! All you people ever go on about is the bloody tea! What about the rest of it eh? What about crumpets, the scones, the dainty fine china cups and saucers, the silver sugar bowls and tongs and the rest of the dinner service?

You think you can just ransack someone's elevenses supply, thrown it all in the harbour and they won't notice?
