Today I was having a discussion with a friend of mine over what above all else we wanted out of life in the future. Personally, since I was young I've loved all kinds of comedy and feel that laughing and making somebody else laugh is one of the best feelings on earth. Obviously then, a future involving that would be my dream, be it through stand-up, comedy writing or whatever.

Well I've shared mine, what about you fellow Escapists?

To be a famous actor, in a Television Series preferably maybe something like Scrubs. And to write sci fi/fantasy books too.

And to be happy with my life and myself, or not obsessing over every thing I do at least.

My dream? My dream is to at least have something to do with music, movies, or video games. I know the entertainment industry is tough, but that's what I want to do.

I originally wanted to be a video game designer, but now I'm looking at becoming a police officer.

No idea, will hopefully find out by the end of school life as the only thing keeping me going is the natural fear of death :p

To be a scientist. More specifically an astrophysicist.

Yeah, I love physics.
That Uni course is one hard ***** though.

I want to work in a solar observatory studying the sun after I finish my degree in Astrophysics, in just over a year.

Game designer. But I'll settle for a job that doesn't suck, lets me pay my bills and for food with a little left over for entertainment/the future, and have the rest of my time for myself and friends/family.

I'd be more than happy with a job I enjoy, a wife that loves me, kids to survive me, and a nice house someplace quiet.

Not very ambitious sounding, but I guess it's more than a lot of people manage in life :p

I'm gonna be overwhelmingly negative and say that chasing dreams is all fine and dandy until you decide that dream involves being an artist of some kind.
The world will do everything in its power to crush an artist and stifle them so they have no room to ever make a living off of what they do. It's not like we live in a society where you can take a couple of painting courses and get a degree that says "I is painter" and then go sell your paintings for thousands of dollars. At least not like you could if you decided to be something more "practical" like let's say an architect.

I used to believe in that whole "Shoot for the moon and you'll land among the stars" ideology but I've come to learn its also quite possible and far more likely that if you shoot for the moon you'll land on your ass.

That said go chase your dreams or whatever, prove me wrong, I'm a bitter old cynical man.

My dream is just to find a good paying job that I will like and find that special someone and not to end up as a bum on the streets

My unrealistic dream would be in a succesful band as the lead singer, but that's not going to happen, so I'll settle for a job as an engineer, a good family and house and a lotus in the garage.

I always wanted to be a concept artist. Mostly because I love drawing, and concept art almost always puts me in a state of awe.

Ah, it's good to see other people interested in that subject : )

I'm planning to start this summer so obviously I'm very excited about it. Hopefully that excitement will last. Nothing quite catches my interest like astronomy does.

At the moment I don't know what kind of job I would like in that field, though. I also know only a little about what options there actually are.

Good luck with your job search! Do you know where you want to search for that kind of job?
