What's the first class you usually play in RPGs.

Depends on what sort of game it is. If we're just talking about a fantasy game that relies mostly on swords and bows, I'm usually a melee guy. I love wielding a giant hammer and just beating the crap out of someone.

However, I've noticed if it's a game with guns (old style guns, not like machine guns and stuff) I usually go for that sort of class.

I guess if I had to pick a class to compare it to...like...Hunter, I guess is my choice. An option of both melee and ranged, but also having access to pets. That's the sort of thing I love.

If that makes any sense.

I prefer the Magic Swordsman type of character. Out in the fray fighting with swords, casting spells at enemies attempting to either flank me or strike me from behind, and enchanting my weapons with elemental properties. Whether my weapon's wreathed in flame, charged with electricity or coated in sharp ice, I like to have the elemental advantage.

Kratos Aurion and Zelos Wilder are actually rather good examples of the type of character I prefer to play.

I usually go with a mage type character who can give a beating but can't take one. I usually look up some information about the games lore and then choose what I'm roleplaying as. While playing Skyrim I was an Orsimer vigilante.

I tend to favor magic, because I just find the mystical aspect to be fun. To be more specific I like to be the healer or some form of support in the MMO scenes. I like to be useful to the group and a healer/buffer is usually pretty useful to have around. It's even better if the MMO gives some decent way to defend yourself on the occasions that I want to solo.

For single player things I tend to favor more offense of course, keeps me from getting my butt handed to me. Still stick to mages typically though, but it is fun to play one that bucks the trends. None in particular come to mind but it is fun to be something different.

As for that whole 'morality' thing I tend to favor being good, partially because my rebellious tendencies are wired weirdly and I tend to want to do the right thing in defiance of the whole 'being a jerk' thing.

Sword & Board, so Warrior type, but if I can get some basic healing spells and maybe an AoE --Paladin Time, Baby!

Mage-Warrior, like my first Skyrim run (on an outdated card :(). Wherein I played with one-handed sword and the other a restoration or destruction spell.
^^ This. Although I end up favoring the Warrior part since (at least when I play) the weapon aspect levels up faster and my magic seems to plateau. After that I go back through and try to do the opposite of whatever I did the first time, so try to favor magic instead of weapons or be a Thief-type character, etc

Recently I've come to the realization that I really adhere well to Ranger classes. In most cases they stand out as the class with the most varied set of combative skills and equipment. I really enjoy being able to switch tactics on the fly and relying on creativity and skill to get by makes every challenge feel more unique. Being a Ranger also offers plenty of room for various backgrounds and personalities from the typical wandering stuck-up Elf to the outcast Tiefling woodsman with a social anxiety disorder.

I always prefer to be a healer, because you can make sure everyone else stays alive, and i often have a better knowledge of how to balance magic so i don't waste it all than most npc's do.
My other choice is mage, some massively armoured warrior comes charging up to me with a broadsword, and I snap my fingers and he gets electrocuted to death, simple and efficient just the way i like it.

Hmm usually in a game where I have to pick a class e.g. Dragon age, Baldur Gate etc, I go for the Rogue/Ranger archetype as I like the stealthy or ranged approached. Especially with the stealth approach, I like to get into the character and try to be as stealthy as possible.

Same, to be honest, with games like the Elder Scroll series, I try to be similar though obviously I expand slightly e.g. my Skyrim character stealthy attacks from long range before switching to dual weapons (if close combat kill isn't possible). However, they also know magic as well, just for fun :)

Whoa, that's exactly what I did as well. My current 2nd run is as a Thief type character with two main daggers.

i used to go for the whole rogue setup, sometimes with a bit of magic on the side, but I've been leaning towards the class I call 'The Sneaky Git'.
Now, The Sneaky Git relies upon stealth initially, but uses it to scout out the enemy rather than actively sneaking into said castle/fortress/moonbase. Although I'm usually lightly armoured, i hit like a runaway oil tanker, so my tactic is to, using information form the sneaking, to encounter as few enemies as possible and kill them before they can even touch me. Essentially an ambush specialist. Or the Scout class from KotOR.

I typically go some type of wizard because most of the time their attacks are more colorful and more entertaining to use, also typically greater variety.

Rogue because sneak attack, *****.
Really though, I just tend to gravitate towards that archetype because I prefer speed/cunning over strength/endurance. However, if theres a warrior type who is more like the former I'll go for that. So I geuss that would roughly equate to a ranger sort of class.

It's usually the mage, although with the tank being the easier option in some games I do lean more towards that now. I still maintain that shooting fireballs out of your hands is really cool though.
