What's the last AAA game you played that wasn't part of a preexisting IP?

Last original AAA I bought: Lost Oddessy last December (Still haven't got around to paying it. I'm working on setting aside time for it.)

Last original AAA I actually played: Um, Bravely Default? (Which I'm still only two hours into after having it for months, since I don't really like playing unfamiliar RPGs on handhelds. Someday, I'll pick it up again.)

Last serialized AAA I played: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (Does that count?) a few hours ago (Just fixed my PSP.)

Really instead of buying new games in general, I've just been playing what I do own for the past couple years.

I liked it quite a lot. The nemesis system really did live up to the hype for me. I did feel a little too OP by the end of the game, but I think that's part of the point.

I did start playing Tearaway only a few months ago. I kind of lost interest in it though. In fact there have been a few original games I've played over the past year or two that I've lost interest in quickly. Splatoon, Bravely Default, Fantasy Life, Freedom Wars. The last game that was an original IP that I played to completion would probably have been a few years ago. Maybe Lollipop Chainsaw or something. I did play Gravity Rush earlier this year but it was my second time playing it so I'm not sure if it counts.

Well, it IS technically part of a pre-existing IP... Lord of the Rings. I would have preferred they just had released it as a generic "orcs over there, kill dey ass" fantasy title. As fun as it was it easily could have launched its own new IP, which would have been better for the publishers in the long run. But if it counts, that's my latest. Otherwise it's Watch Dogs, but I don't really count that either as it's just the latest version of "the Ubisoft game" and there's plenty of previous examples of the Ubisoft game.

Which going back further would make it Dishonored.

Do those count as not being part of a previous IP? I would think South Park and Middle Earth/Lotr where very much previous IP's, and in the case of the latter, one with a bunch of video games attached to its name as well. These games might be first and hopefully only parts in their own series but they come from long existing IP's.

I think it counts as triple-A
I don't game too much nowadays but that one was on this years side.
Before that I can't really remember, maybe ZombiU, I'm not at home now but I can't even remember what I have in my shelf / digtal versions -.-
Close to the end of the Wii-era there were quite a few ones, so 2011-2012 I played games like Xenoblade Chronicles, Pandoras Tower, Muramasa the Demon Blade and The Last Story, all which I am at lest not aware of having any previous installments.

Otherwise a number of unfinished games mostly from PS+: Remember Me, Puppeteer, Amalur, El Shaddai.
I think those were all trying to be AAA, right?

Sunset OverDrive for the Xbox One. Fun so far. $20ish on Amazon.

It is similar to Jet Set Radio though.

Titanfall is probably the last new IP that didn't feel similar to something else to me at all.

Bloodborne. You could consider it as part of the Souls series but I feel the difference in gameplay and setting is significant enough to be considered separate.

That's...actually kinda hard because most of the stuff I've played lately has been either sequels (MGS5 first and foremost) or non-triple-A (like Subnautica and Xenonauts).

I guess Omega Quintet? Maybe? Assuming that 'counts' as triple-A. I did buy Ryse Son of Rome the other day on sale on steam but I've not played it yet.

OT: i was going to saw bloodborne but you said no spiritual successors. But i wouldn't really call it a spiritual successor, just made by the same creators.

If that doesn't count then destiny. The new expansion came out and i am loving it.

Just looking through my Steam library... the only thing that matches the criteria is Dishonored.
Which actually surprises me quite a bit. Odd that we don't see any new fresh ideas, just sequels or things based off of an existing series of other games, books, movies, etc.

Funny that's probably the same answer for me. I didn't really think of Warframe as an AAA game though what with the free play.

For me its Evolve, and despite all the shit this game got (some deserved, some based on gross mis-information) I'm having an absolute blast with it still. I have over 350 hours into it and I'm still having a great time playing it and eagerly awaiting the next Monster and Hunters to be released.

EDIT: Also Splatoon. That game is ALSO a stupid amount of fun!
