Recently, I'd have to say the title goes to Dragon Age: Inquisition. Game was so boring and the end was so god awful that the post credits reveal had no impact. Because of that reveal, I feel like I've been suckered into a following the story just to see what happens next.

Recently it was Murdered Soul Suspect from the latest humble bundle. I put a couple hours into it and I felt it was just incredibly bland. I like adventure games and story rich games, so a lack of gameplay isn't really a problem, but there was something about that game that I found so boring I couldn't even stand to listen to the dialogue

Spec Ops: The Line.. the story was one of its kind, but the gameplay for me was generic 3rd person shooter.. aka boring as hell.. The story wasnt enough for me to continue playing it.. When i dont have fun playing the game then no matter the story wont make up for it :)

Clash of kings, it's a mobile game focused on micro transactions. Everything you do takes forever, so basically i just click on stuff every few hours and sometime later see what the outcome was. For example yesterday before going to bed i started upgrading my castle to level 8, it finished when i was eating lunch at work.. I don't know why i still haven't uninstalled it, maybe because it doesn't require any effort or time to play it.

The latest one I've played that I can't stomach my way through is Brothers. It has a gimmick and absolutely no substance to keep one playing. Even the obstacles aren't the least bit challenging.

Witcher 1 and 2. Only reason I finished is because I spent money on them, didn't feel like going back to Skyrim, and hoping that they would get better. They didn't.

Borderlands .... is an odd case. I can't tell if it was cheaply made like ever game the dev put out the last four years or more boring than folding up cardboard.

The worst one I played and was bored to tears by was the second Elder Scrolls game. Which really didn't help because the game already had a shitty control scheme that made me miss the excellence that were the FPS segments from the SNES Jurassic Park game.

Inquisitor.
I was playing a Paladin and eventually got up to the point where you fight
Bishop Herbetius
and that bastard perma drained skill points, with no way to get them back!

So I uninstalled that game and have never gone back.

Five Nights at freddy's, after the 20-30 minutes it takes to get used to the jump scares, is a painfully dull and utterly frustrating exercise, one of the worst I've played in a while. For all the guff games like Gone Home get, at least they're atmospheric, and let you walk a little bit.

I recall being bored by "the witcher" as well, so put me in that well-trodden boat.

Shadow of Mordor.

Hoooooly moly, that was such a snore fest.

Kill x amount of Orcs. Now go on this fetch quest. Now do this escort quest.

The devs know those are the most hated missions in gaming right? Apparently not, because that was the majority of the game. The intro was pretty cool but everything after that was so uggghhh.....

I felt obligated to complete it because everyone was falling over themselves to say how utterly fantastic it was. I love Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, but just because Shadow of Mordor is set in that world doesn't instantly make it good.

Watch_Dogs. Good lord that game bored me to death. The "hacking" minigame wasn't half as fun as I was hoping it to be, and the cars handled like blocks of depleted uranium on ice. It was not a very PC friendly game.

Assassins Creed. I think I only played this for about 45 minutes before I quit and took it back for a refund.

GTA 4. I have almost played it to completion, 60% maybe? I don't know how far in I am. I will finish it, one day. I did like that in the PC version, it will allow you to import your own music files for a custom radio station.

Fallout. I know a lot of people claim it's the best game ever, but I started playing the Fallout games with Fallout 3. Going from isometric to fps is easy, going from fps to isometric isn't.

Command & Conquer 4. The forced co-op, not being able to find anyone to play with killed it for me.

FEAR. The repetitive use of jump scares hid a very boring fps'er.

Ah, the topic where we all get pelted with a thousand rotten tomatoes!

Dragon's Dogma - it felt like a linear game that suddenly decided it needed to be openworld but had no idea how to go about it. Also, did anyone see a stray plot? There's a reward!

Suikoden V - I sorta liked this one, sorta didn't. It was my first Suikoden. I remember the pacing feeling quite laborious and the usual 'lots of stuff happening because' thing. Also, in the strategy segments you had to follow exactly what the strategist said even if you had a better or quicker strategy. The music was quite memorable though. I may try this one gain sometime in the future and see my opinion remains the same or not.

GTA V - GTA V made me feel sleepy. So did GTA IV actually.

Assassin's Creed - I realised I was chasing map markers. I have no interest in playing sequels knowing that it is definitely now a cash-cow franchise with excuse plots.

Bioshock - I KNOW I KNOW! But I just thought it was your FPS just in really cool environment that you couldn't do much in. The plot is okay. This is another one I'll likely give another (umpteenth) go because the fact that is so well-liked gets to me. I get bored of shooting things very quickly.

I'm not surprised people found assassin's creed 1 boring, but for me assassin's creed 3 was a lot more boring because i had higher expectations for it. Connor was such a dull protagonist after the charismatic Ezio

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood & beyond I guess, I have yet to to beat Brotherhood because I keep falling asleep on my couch while playing it because I have not beaten it I will not play the other ones till I do.

My favorite game right now is still Boarder Lands the 1st one. I keep playing and trying out different strategies with different characters. I liked the 2nd one but they did away with the gun leveling that they had in the 1st which I really liked. Who needs to waste MOD that improves a guns accuracy when it will improve on its own if you keep using that type of gun.

EDIT: After looking over other post's I will have to say I liked Assassin's Creed 1 more then Assassin's Creed 2 only because it seemed to be more of a challenge then 2 but it too was boring as well.

Just going to say it now: All claims made in this thread thus far are invalid, if only because clicker-games like Cookie Clicker exist.

Even the most humdrum and hollow RPG, FPS, or what-have-you, has more going for it than a game where you literally just click a single button for endless hours. Hell, I'd even go so far as to say those dime-a-dozen, shovelware " Simulator" games have more compelling gameplay.

Seriously....fuck clicker-gamers. They are the most mind-numbingly boring games ever conceived. I hesitate to even call them games. I prefer to call them George Jettison Simulators.

4X. Almost the whole dang genre. I want to love these games, and I do for a while. But quickly there comes a point where simply maintaining my empire is work, not fun. And a lot of it, too. And most such games' interfaces are NOT helping.
What say you to 4X-hybrid games? Say, for example, Sins of a Solar Empire?

Lots of people are saying Bioshock and sequels and I agree, they were soo dull.
Personally I found Mass Effect 3 super dull. The levels were just: long windy corridor, arena to fight waves of enemies in, repeat. Never did finish it which is a shame because I heard the ending was great.

It's a toss between the;

* X games - they are all boring space trucker sims best played by automating the trucking and leaving your computer on overnight whilst you sleep.
* Katawa Shoujo - a slice of life story with a fundamental lack of intrigue or reason to stay invested after reading through the twenty minutes of long conversations about student councils.
You're playing the x games wrong, what you're supposed to do is:
1. Install the cheat scripts.
2. give yourself a few destroyers.
3. depopulate the universe.

I haven't played it, and I have difficulty seeing how throwing real time into the formula would improve it for me, but I do think it could be done and maybe it even has been? Bog standard RTS's (a la StarCraft) usually end up with too much going on for me to keep up with it all, throwing in even more 4X elements doesn't sound like something that would help with that.

I understand where you're coming from. I also appreciate how adding 4X elements into an RTS would seem to be needless convolution.

Sins is an odd case. It's as complex or as simple, as fast or as slow, as you want to make it. I've done matches that rival Starcraft 2 for speed, simplicity, and intensity, some ending in well under an hour. I've done matches that were slow, methodical, and incredibly complex, that lasted well over six hours[footnote]On a side note: the games have a fantastic save feature, allowing even multiplayer games to be picked up by anyone at any time[/footnote]. It all boils down to the modes and rules you start with and the ways in which you prefer to play.

I can't promise the game(s) would be your 'cup of tea', so to speak, but I will say they're worth a try. It could very well be the case that you may dislike the combined genres more than you do individually. Or, it could be that you wind up liking it quite a bit, especially if you're a fan of strategy games.

I think there's a demo of either Trinity or Rebellion floating around the 'net somewhere, but if you do decide to purchase one of them, go with Rebellion. It's by far the best version of the series.

Final Fantasy XIII - Lightning Returns. Mrs. Makt is currently loving this game so I've been trying to play it, but... eh. Bored. It should be grabbing my attention for some of the themes and interesting ideas (everyone stuck essentially in a living stasis for 500 years, no new kids being born, no one aging, etc.) and the art should be impressive, but... eh. Doesn't help matters that the direction for Lightnings voice acting was "You're bored." I've put in about 20 hours (going through things with Mrs. Makt guiding me cuz I just don't care enough to put the effort in myself, and it's a nice way to spend time together) and nothing is impressing me.

I hate to say this, but Skyrim.
I had the same feelings the first time I played it. Then I ran into a few of the Miracle of Sound Skyrim songs and... well, it's not nearly as boring for me now. Not saying this will work for you, but considering the amount of time you've already put into trying to make it a fun game, might as well give it a shot.
