Skyrim. It is the first game that I ever bought that became unplayable. Bethesda will not see anymore of my money.

If things that comes with games count then Batman arkham city.
got the game for Christmas still in contact with WB for getting a working Catwoman code and most of the time is waiting for responses from them.
if not, then Fallout 3 for ps3 so many bugs and freezes.

It would rain--"Bandits!" There would be an orc--"It's raining." Very severe lag and frame rate issues were a constant; sound issues, but those weren't as consistent. The game was just a mess inside and out. Though, there were a few times when I actually enjoyed myself while playing. Those times were just accepting that the game was horrendous and that I'll only have fun if I poke fun of it while playing.
I had a simila-. My sound issues we-. For me, it was eve-. I couldn't even fol-. Eventually, I ju-.

I didn't get far. I have never heard a complete audio track on that game when I eventually got it to run. Then, when I got it to run, it would crash after about 5-10 minutes of playing randomly and I gave up on it. I revisted it later to see if I could get it to work and experienced the same problems.

It is the first time I have actually had a game's bugs not let me play it.

Fallout 2

This game was released just as Interplay were first going out of business, and you can see where certain aspects were rushed or not thought about. Such as some guards having the wrong ammo for their weapon in certain areas of the game so they ended up attacking you with fists, also San Francisco having next to nothing on some of its shelves, a fair few unfinished quests, and worst of all because i was playing the European version of the game my copy had no children in it.... that itself wouldn't have been a major problem, but certain quests needed you to talk/deal with kids, and not to mention that although the kids were gone the floating text above their heads was still there so you had essentially ghosts talking like children floating around at random points of the game.

And all that was after the first official patch! when i played the game straight out of the box it generally crashed repeatedly when i got to a certain date in the game so i'd have to start the entire thing from scratch (GRR) The Car i acquired bizarrely used to split into two parts when a new area loaded and i'd have to go hunting to find the boot with all my stuff in it :) and basically other inumerable things that were just glitchy as hell and broken to bits....

Having adored the first fallout game, i was pretty gutted at being screwed over like this with this broken wreck of a game when i played it from out of the box. Fortunately thanks to fan patches, and some very gifted people at places like No Mutants Allowed, they've patched the game so Europeans can play the American version and tweaked, fine tuned and even added some old and dropped ideas back into the game. So the version i am playing (Yes i still play it!) is as close to the fully intended original version as possible.

I still list it and the original as among my favourite games of all time.

Ironically Fallout 3 and New Vegas have given me little to no trouble (Karma maybe)

How about you. What is the most broken game you have ever bought?
Did you regret the purchase?
Did it encourage you to avoid future releases in the series or of the same dev team?
- Rage. Because it's poorly done, overhyped, flawed product that to this day refuses to work. What's worse, the official answer was "f*ck you people, upgrade your drivers".
- Whooooooooooo boy. I regret i can't wipe my arse with that and send it back to developers.
- It made me rethink developer's position in the crusade against piracy among other thing.

Fallout 3 for me.
It crashes EVERY time you try to leave the Vault. I don't even bother anymore...
It's fixed now.
For some people it was because of flawed installation.
For some - the problem with multi core processors that was resolved by adding a few lines in *.ini config file.
And for some - the broken crack.

Despite some flaws, mismatches, glitches and loose ends that cried for one line of dialogue more, F2 was finishable from beginning to the end. :|

:O I nearly bought that once, still it's as bad as Hellgate:London, enemies disapearing through the ground and reappearing somewhere else, quest-breaking bugs, weird rag-dolls and random lagging and that save system? Very, very, very annoying.

Unlike Star Fox Adventures, which had the pleasant tendency to shit itself inside out whenever it could. It took me 10 hours to finish the first zone in that game due to the sheer crippling nature of the bugs and glitches before finally giving up after the triceratops I had to escort turned into a blimp, locked me in place and phased out of the universe.
Glitches or not, I'm kind of surprised anyone spent 10 hours playing Star Fox Adventures.

As much as I want to like the game, it's unplayably ugly and the pathfinding is totally broken...

KOTOR 2 refused to let me get past the second or third planet when I bought it a couple of years ago on PC. I tried to leave, crash. I reloaded all of the save games I had, tried the same thing, crashed every time. I gave up for a couple of years. Installed it recently with the fan-made patch... hopefully it works when I get to it next.

I got Alpha Protcol for $3 in a Steam sale and managed to get through that no problem at all, and rather enjoyed it. So I consider Obsidian and I even now.

Skyrim, though it pains me to admit it. On my main character both the main questlines (dragons and civil war) has bugged and now I can't advance in either. I never had any problems with the Fallout games either, so this is my first time having issues with Bethesda.

Ugh Dead Island.
I'd sooner cut off my own hand before buying that again.

Anyhow, I like Fallout NV =O

Though, I did buy a copy of Fallout 3 which just plain crashed everytime I tried to play it for more than 10 minuites on my PC.
Moral of the story: Only buy Bethesda games for consoles.

Stronghold 3.....

I couldn't select units half the time, and when I could, I couldnt attack enemies because the cursor was fucked depending on how far in/out you were zoomed.

Random crashes aswell.

HOWEVER, I still love it because the game is now nearly all fixed after Firefly have used their best efforts to get the game playable over the past few months :)
Someone else that played the rubbish that was release Stronghold 3.
Biggest letdown I ever experienced. Ladder climbing wolves was a bit hilarious though, in a sad way.

As one that played World of Warcraft for a few years, every content patch (not exactly buying them, but it's a monthly fee on the game) seemed to be amazingly broken the first couple of weeks. Even WITH a beta test server for player and developer testing.

Every FIFA game I've ever owned.
EA have been making FIFA games for over 10 years and they still all have the same problems since I first started playing them. It seems that each year you get a squad update a new gimmick or pointless feature and MORE broken gameplay.

My new favourite is the 'impact engine' which is apparently the result of 2 years of development, and it is supposed 'realistically' simulate player collisions, but what actually happens is two players standing within 5 feet of each other 'collide' and then both get sent flying across the pitch. How can you have spent 2 years making something that works this poorly?

There is a patch. I say this because you owe it to yourself to play it. It's a gem, regardless of crazy buggitude.
I do remember patching it. Maybe you're referring to a more recent one, or a community patch or something. I'll give it another try, because it's really one of those games I want to enjoy.

When I'm through Earthbound, I'll give it another shot. Thanks for the heads-up.
