What's wrong with PC gamers?

I'm traditionally a PC gamer, I like to play FPS, RPGs, RTS, and I love modding. But recently I bought a used 360 simply because its become a status symbol. I do enjoy playing different games on my 360 (Fighting style games, exclusives that won't eventually becoming to PC) and I really enjoy being able to buy used games for outrageously low prices (I prefer not to pirate).

Like recently I just bought Naruto: Rise of the Ninja (used for $15 along with crackdown used for $12), a mix fighting adventure game that I find genuine fun. Not revolutionary, not a massive surge of adrenaline but I play it for a few hours by myself or with the group of foreign friends I have picked up a school and I do not feel like my time has been wasted.

For PC i really like games that after I finish it makes me feel as if I was part of something amazing. The PC games I do play (I like to be specific and careful when I spend my $50) they have full immersion, and after the experience I feel like I just been through a lifetime of adventuring leaving my with a taste in my mouth and a craving more. Like a (to be) heroine addict who just had his first fix.

Did i ever say that the controls were harder back in the day?, nope, i said Games, and the Games were much harder back in the day then they are now, so dont try to bullshit me by posting pictures of old vs. new controllers, as i never even mentioned the new controller nor the old controller.
This has been explained, and better, by someone else. Read.

lawl the posts i saw on here are exactly what i expected

i use and play every system, including pc's, and i tend to stray more towards the consoles, as its a fair level playing field, and pc's tend to have to many crashes and patches for minimal stuff

yes modding and hacking and all that good joys are amazing for games and the community, but it doesn't outweigh enough that i prefer consoles and the exclusive games on them

alot of the time i prefer to sit on the couch all comfy with a controller that fits amazingly into my hands than to sit in my computer chair with my arm struggling to find a comfortable position while holding the mouse and my other hand constantly trying to remember which hotkeys for which game

(i am leaning towards consoles there)

and i do get crap from all my friends, as most the people i know who are pc gamers are elitists, which is a good 90-100 people, and they tend to have the "consoles are junk and i will boycott them!" thing going so they miss out on a lot of superb games (such as rpg's and shooters exclusive) so honestly, i dont think that console gamers are the "tards", tending that most console owners have all the consoles and such so we open ourselves to a wide variety of games while most people i know on pc's sit there being hardcore playing fps with a mouse and rts 24/7

(i still like to play pc from time to time, such as d2 and cod =] )

btw most live people i hear talking aren't that bad really? if they are they are just making fun of each other or just like "ah balls i wanted the sniper!" or of such..

Many people hate console gamers because they've played Xbox Live. A fair assumption, I think we can all agree. There's only so many times you can be called a "noob ******" before getting super-pissed.

I think another reason, though, is that we're secretly afraid of the PC dying as a gaming platform. More people game on a console than a PC, and many developers have realized there's more money to be made there. PC gamers feel the need to remind the world why their platform is superior, and bash consoles and console gamers to back up their arguments. Just a theory, but I think it holds some weight.

I'm a PC gamer. Personally, I generally like the PC better--a more sophisticated control scheme, slightly better graphics, more immersion, and far more options for customization and modification. In my opinion, RTS and FPS games are better suited to the PC. However, I also think the console does have its place--it's fun to play with someone in the same room, and fighting games and platformers (such as Assassin's Creed) work better on the console. I avoid bashing console gamers unless I see a really good reason.

I recently read a PC gaming magazine and a console gaming magazine. After reading them I realized the PC gaming referenced "console tards" several times and upholding the keyboard/mouse as the better control scheme. The console gaming magazine talked about console games. That got me thinking that PC gamers defend their PC's against consoles far more than console owners defend against other consoles. Why do PC gamers feel like their PC's need defending? It seems to me that console gamers want to game while PC gamers want to defend their investment and act superior to other gamers, like their afraid they paid for a console that really isn't all that fun. Why can't PC gamers be happy they have a great system to play games on in addition to utilitarian tasks? Only PC gamers vehemently defend their controller. Most console gamers will only defend their controller for a little while after provoked before getting back to gaming. So why the hate PC gamers, why?
Observe in nature the Alpha male role of the pack. The Alpha will bully the other lesser animals of the packs, yet said animals do not retaliate or attempt the same type of behavior unless challenging the position of Alpha.

Its the same thing, a PC is clearly a more expensive and superior piece of technological hardware capable of thousands times more than consoles. So naturally anyone that prefers such a piece of hardware is going to think consoles are lesser machines, which they are.

So if you are a console person who somehow thinks they are going to "insult" the PC enthusiasts, its laughable and will only end up in humiliation. There is no contest, but the bullying will remain.

This is just the way people are, I see it happen all the time in a billion different contexts and a thousand different scenarios, yet the principle at the core is always the same.

Maybe its because we enjoy it when PC only developers (i.e. Blizzard) says something to the effect of (paraphrasing here), "Fuck Consoles with a big rusty stick." It makes most of us PC gamers happy.

What bugs me about console games is how previously PC-only developers have embraced the console and the effect it's had on the games. There's a right way and a wrong way to demean a console gamer, and the right way pretty much boils down to "[Insert PC Game Series Here] was a lot better before the damn developers went and fucked it up so you console tards wouldn't have to use your pea brains."

It's an offshoot of rage over the general dumbing down of society that drives PC gamers' irritation with console players.

I've always seen consoles as..You know..Pre-made toys for people who aren't smart or appreciative enough to build their own machine.
I only have an Xbox360, by the way. And no qualms about insulting myself.

It's pretty simple, PC gamers are awesome and the PC controller system is so much better than all consoles that we have the right to brag!

Gentlemen. I love numbers in gaming, I love stats, I love customisation, I love playing with Tetris inventory screens, I love redundant features, I love control customisation, I love precision input with a mouse, I love point-and-click and the ease of use it brings, I love mods, I love being able to play online for free, I love sitting in my computer chair over my keyboard, I love how PCs are multi-purpose devices, I love being able to browse the Internet and game at the same time on the same device, and I love many things more about PCs that separate them from consoles.
Krieg! Krieg! Krieg!. . . ahem. . .

To address the OP; nothing is wrong with PC gamers in general. Sure there are some fanboys that openly attack other platforms but c'mon, all platforms have their fanboys. Most PC gamers (who use PCs exclusively)are ambivalent to console gaming or downright don't pay attention(I would never have known of Halo if it weren't ported to the PC).

All of the vitriol I encounter between PCs and consoles usually arise when both platforms share a title and comparisons are made. That's when complaints are voiced, accusations thrown, arguments, theories, essays and whole theses made on why each platform ended up with that particular product and why it's just fair.

Oh and PCs can play just about every video game produced. . . just give us a few years to work on the emulators. . .

EDIT: damn this thread is old. . .

PC Gamers can brag all they like about how the mouse is superior to a gamepad in aiming, but they're ignoring the fact that controllers are better for other things. Platforming, for instance.

They can also claim that consoles mean that PCs get less games that exploit the full power of PCs, but to be honest, who gives a damn? The quality of the games coming out is still good, so you shouldn't be whining about "Well, it could be THIS much better!" when you're still having just as much fun for a bit less visual fidelity.

EDIT: HOLY NECROSIS BATMAN!

Console controllers haven't changed too much since the days of side-scrolling beat-em-ups and as such are still not the best input system for a lot of games. Sure they manage but a keyboard and mouse is generally better.

Of course I would say that, I still haven't learned to aim with the fucking things.

Because it's fun.

It's fun because there is a grain of truth in it.

Working with different configurations and making PC games run smoothly isn't difficult. Building a PC isn't hard. Staying informed about new hardware is part of the charm.
For the 'tards there are always consoles.

Here's some of the possible reasons I can think of as a PC gamer (some or perhaps even most have already been mentioned, but I will repeat them anyway):

* PC gamers feel left out/ignored by both the media, the game developers and other gamers. People rarely have "XB 360 vs PS 3 vs PC" discussions. The PC doesn't even seem to be an option for most console gamers and I think that this upsets PC gamers a little bit. So perhaps PC gamers want to "save" the console gamers and inform them about this "unknown" platform? Or at least make sure that the PC doesn't drift away completly into oblivion.

* Some or perhaps even many PC gamers feel that console gaming destroyed the quality of many games being produced. That many games started being produced for consoles primarily and for the PC secondarily resulting in poorly made PC-ports.

* Many of the PC gamers are probably old time gamers that were gamers long before gaming became as accepted and mainstream as it is today. So many are probably a bit miffed that their "club" isn't so "exclusive" or "special" any longer...

* I wouldn't be surprised if PC gamers have a larger number of technically skilled people among their numbers. Which is why they might have a harder time understanding why someone would choose a platform that's a bit easier to maintain.

I'm a PC gamer but I don't subscribe to all that snobbish bullshit. But equally I don't understand why the console players have a go either, both have their merits.

the fact is, console gaming ruined gaming. PC gaming is where the quality has always been, because everything evolved on it

Mainly because most PC gamers are elitist pricks who think that all of their games are more intelligent (I think Counter-Strike destroys this point with an atomic bomb). They have better hardware, but I can honestly say I have never played anything fun on a PC.
How many PC games have you played? And which ones?
