Fire. Between the ability to use fire and my already ferocious personality (when angered), I could be the best wielder of fire that time or fantasy has ever seen! Muahahahahahahaha!
This and darkness. Fire is harsh, but it eliminates impurities in a substance. In a similar manor, I tend to rip down tapestries that people throw up to make themselves feel comfortable and force them to accept what is rather than what they want.

Also, I go with darkness due to a few things. For one, the night is absolutely beautiful in some places. Without the darkness, there would be no night. In the summer out in the desert, night and shadows provide respite from heat. Finally, without shadows or darkness, there's very little mystery. Without mystery, there's no need for exploration. Without exploration, there's no exhilaration of new discovery.

Now that you think about it, Fire isn't really an element is it? And if so, no more than lightning is. Explanation: They aren't constant. Unlike water and earth, they are only around until they run out of fuel (Fire needs air, and lightning needs friction(?) or pressure or something in the right amounts). While water and earth will remain.

Elements are considered the basis of everything, just like the basic colours. And when fire isn't always around, it can't exactly be an element (I think).

Can someone please prove me wrong, so I wont come off quite as douchy /ignorant / stupid?

OT: I'd pick water.

Well if we are talking classical, I would go for earth, because earth is essentially all matter. If I could control any modern element I would control Hydrogen, because it is so bloody prevalent in the universe. Imagine, the ability to make stars!

Either fire or lightning. Nice and destructive. And they could probably be harnessed to let me fly.

Or Oxygen. I would hold the world to ransom with that power!
Dammit, ninja'd. Although I was going to go with iron, because magnetic powers would be cool.

Classical elements though? Air. Fire would look cooler, but air leads to flying, which is awesome. Also air bubbles to travel underwater, or keep you dry in the rain.

Although I suppose fire could be used to create a sufficient updraft to allow flight, maybe...

Well according to my star sign my element is water. Which I'm happy with because water has always been my favourite. So I guess I'll go with water, the destructive force it has, is incredible.

I'd control all the elements because I'm good like that! :)

But I'd love to control Fire. ;D

Well according to Fire Emblem since I was born in February I'm aligned with ice. So I'll just go with that.

Earth--whether it's actual stone or just flowers, I don't mind, because they'd both be useful to me. :D Controlling stone would mean that I can make work more efficient and streamlined (I work on a trail maintenance crew and we do a decent amount of rock work). on the other hand, controlling plants would be nice, because gardening is my hobby, and I could produce lots of food plants and give fresh fruits and veggies to hungry folks. :D

Being a Libra/Scorpio I'm a mixture of Wind/Fire, which sums me up quite nicely. Plus, I could then create a Firestorm!

Wind. Wind types are often associated with High agility, and speed/reaction time is what wins a battle.
