My favorite is Katanagatari. A fantastic sword hunting epic that manages to blend humor, well choreographed fights, an incredibly interesting story and a completely unique artistic style all together.

Woah now THAT style is a breath of fresh air in anime.
It really is. That's what attracted me to the show. I had no idea the rest of it would be just as amazing as the art style.
Thats how I got into Panty and Stocking as well.

The mixture of west and east animation was very unique IMO

Jackie Chan Adventures. It can be lovely ludicrous (I love alliteration).
Did they ever finish that show?

I was like at the arc where the zodiac powers were in those animals and they had to round them all up.
There were two more seasons. The next one was awesome but the final season was pretty meh. I think everyone sensed it was time to call it quits. Also, I WANT MY DVD RELEASE.

I think the other season was the one with shendou's son correct?

And I really need a site to see all the seasons.
That was the final season. The next is the season with the Oni, where Uncle uses a Japanese chant.

The simplest solution.
Ah then I stopped at season 4, couldnt see the last season because of school :(

And I miss the golden age of kids wb and fox kids....

Ah Saturday morning cartoons, how I miss thee
I wholeheartedly second this notion. Fox doesn't even have Saturday morning cartoons anymore.
Yeah what the hell, happened to them anyways?

I remember seeing some message that they were just gonna stop showing cartoons and said that kidswb would still be on or something.

And then that left as well and no more cartoons after school nor on saturdays :(
Supposedly it was low ratings. I call bull on this because EVERY kid I knew watched at least one show every Saturday.

AGREED

I think conservative parents pressured foxkids to take down the "violent shows" or something like that

Panty and Stocking was great too. I can't wait for a second season.

But there will be no second season of Katanagatari. Which I am beyond ok with. It's perfect as is.

Dragonball Z. I had seen anime before that, but that series is what really got me hooked into it and I loved every single bit of it, until it got to GT.

Clannad and Clannad After Story. It's by far the most beautiful and touching anime I've ever seen.

One Piece then there is Hunter x Hunter but Taguchi is lazy. Oda is damn near a God among men with how he's weaved that thing together.

I would love Gantz more but some of the later missions... Wow... You can not make an anime of that (even though the movie is coming out soon)

Out of curiosity do I watch the 12 episode series or the OVA first? Can't find an answer anywhere.
That depends if you dont feel dirty about watching soft hentai...

Thats basically the ova and the manga.

The 12 episode serious tones it down, but its still pretty funny.
I have no qualms about hentai, I just want to know what comes first.

Also I can't believe I forgot to mention A Certain Magical Index and all its spinoffs. So much great story and a series for high minded people. I think of it as the Half-Life of anime.

Ga-Rei Zero is a personal favorite of mine. It has an increadibly deep plot and well developed characters. Definitly worth seeing if you like a strong story.

D.Gray-Man is pretty decent too.

OT: Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai. Or Oreimo for short is just excellent, if you haven't watched it out of fear that it's incest then you have a totally wrong impression and should be lynched for judging by the title alone. Great story, characters and character development. Almost as heart warming as Clannad but not nearly as tear jerking. Overall an excellent, feel good kinda show.

Also, Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsa, both seasons are great (I survived the endless eight twice without losing my sanity) and the movie is absolutely glorious. Not to mention gorgeous. This show is a much watch for any anime fan.
i still need to watch the OVA. but as a recommendation you should watch the 12 episode series its like ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai but more with the incest and if you like ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai then i say you would like kiss x sis.

plus i agree with Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsa, epicness all the way. second season lacked a bit with the repeat episodes other than that epic.

I'm very fond [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Higurashi-no-Naku-Koro-ni] of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When they Cry). It's an excellent [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/anime/6503-Anime-Review-Higurashi-When-They-Cry] psychological horror/mystery series.

Spice & Wolf would be a close second.

Ooh, that's a tough one...

For the longest time, that was Lucky Star. But I think my favorite one is Hellsing. Though Death Note is one of my favorites as well...

Lets just say a draw between Hellsing and Death Note.
