Gothic II.
It's more or less the reason why I chose my avatar. The game just has everything I enjoy about RPG's. Challenge (the satisfaction you can get by melee-duelling an Orc Elite at Chapter 1 and defeat him with no cheap tricks is simply amazing), environment (it has a pretty nice variety, open fields, dense forests, barren wasteland, swamps, a snowy tundra, etc), a pretty good storyline - maybe not the most original, but it is well executed and it can draw you in, replayability (three different factions with exclusive quests and stuff), some good memorable and interesting characters, a pretty decent combat system (it actually works very nicely, it can be a little challenging to master but with the right skill (as in actual player skill) you could defeat some of the toughest enemies at level one with a fucking wooden branch) and a great expansion pack to boot!
So yeah, an entire block of writing with minimal full stops explaining why I fucking love the game
