I'm a student, which isn't a job, but it's a...sorry excuse for not having one despite my middling efforts.

Careful with the link. If the mods see it as an advertisement attempt they might take action. I hope they don't. Welcome to the escapist!

I work at the front desk of my dorm at my University, part time. The shifts aren't too bad, but the hours are rather lame. I work, if I'm lucky, 4 hours every two weeks. It is rather pathetic.

Oh well, at least I am able to browse the Escapist whilst being at said job. That makes it worth it.

I attend school, but every saturday I work at a supermarket distrubation centre, just stacking empty crates etc.

there are 2 catches to that job:
1 its 7-4, so I have to get up at 5:30
2 I am the only native there, all other employers are polish.

I used to be paid by the United States Military but that was a long time ago. I work in construction during the day, then I go home sleep for 3 hours, wake up, gel my hairs and tend bar at a pretty trendy venue in NYC. I also smoke reefer pretty professionally. I'm a jack of all trades.

Studying Radiography. Well, for the moment at least... Got an exam in anatomy within a month, and if I don't pass that I'll be held back until I either pass it (we get two or three tries on it I think), fail completely or drop out... WHY DOES THE HUMAN BODY HAVE TO BE SO COMPLEX?! >_<

Head of IT at a credit union. All the computers and the network and now it seems the vending machine (I guess because it has electronics in it) are under my control.

Hey fellow escapists!

This is kind-of search bar approved, but since there are over 50.000 threads out there in the off-topic section it's quite unbelievable that there's no thread about this.

SO, my question is:

What is your job or what do you do? (Well it can also be that you attend a school or something)

Well I personally quit the IT college I attended for the last 2 years to become an IT-technician in the federal ministry of interior of Austria (I know that it would have been more intelligent to stay at the college :p). While I am being developed an IT technician, which lasts 3 years until I'm an apprentice, besides I am doing a handful of exams for the general qualification for university entrance. It's quite a lot to do at the moment but it'll be worth it in the end. After all that I'm probably going to the university.
I'm a freelance graphic designer, its not a great paying gig but I love what I do, and at night I do street art.
The only thing that I hate about my job are some of the questions the clients come up with, and that they think just because they can use photoshop (or its equivilent) that they can do my job. No you can't, you haven't even worked out why you shouldn't use comic san's IN EVERY FUCKING THING! /rant.

oh my god I HATE that!! Im right there with you. I've had many clients attempt to "do the design work" for me so I "know which direction to take" because "they know design and know their audience". Well if they know all that then what the hell am I here for? These people kill me. lol. In those instances I try to show them why I get paid what I do, but if they refuse to listen I just say "ok" and give them exactly what they ask for. At my freelance rate. :)

Good man. :)
Its one of the pitfalls I always swore I would do something about, and to some extent I have. Regular clients know how to give me the brief and they reccomend new ones. But every so often I get one who tries to do that and they get the evil eye followed by a short diatribe.
I also take on trainee's, which I love doing.
