What's your "pet" game?

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Personally, I think it's the best Zelda game ever made, and alongside FFIX it was the cornerstone of my gaming childhood.
I don't say it much, but I agree. I like it the best. My pet game it is not, however.
My real pet game is probably We Love Katamari. With hilarity and an awesome game premise, how can it not be your favourite game of life?

Probably the Witcher. I played a good part of the way into it, then Mass Effect 2 came out and all other games got set aside for a bit. Now that I have been seeing advertising for the Witcher 2, I went into 'need to beat it before the sequel comes out' mode, but while I am trying to play through it again I keep getting a weird crash, often times when I'm trying to save.

After the first couple times its become annoying enough that I tend to pledge that I'm done with it but I keep going back. It keeps beating me but if I love it enough it will love me too, right?

Metroid Prime. I mean its very well considered, but I just keep finding myself going to my gamecube and playing it periodically over current gen stuff.

"You'll bring it up in game discussions fully aware few if anyone there's played it and you'll always hold out for the sequel that will almost surely never be." Fallout, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Bioshock, Morrowind, Oblivion those aren't pet games they are AAA titles that tons of people love :p

My pet games would be Deadly Premonition and Bust-A-Groove.

Brute Force. It was my favorite game ever back when it came out on the original xbox and now whenever I infrequently hear someone talk about it they say how it was a bland, shooter that was just average and had no potential.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy.

Completely overlooked and dismissed for being an expansion of Gauntlet Legends. I like to pretend Legends doesn't exist and that Dark Legacy is the only version since it's the complete collection of the work. The dated visuals and gameplay don't bother me in the least, there is something overwhelmingly immerse about it. It's a massive game and a dare say it's an "Epic Adventure."

As far as I'm concerned, Seven Sorrows was a massive disappointment and unworthy of bearing the Gauntlet name. I'm hoping whoever now owns the Gauntlet IP since Midway went bankrupt has some plans to revitalize the franchise and give it the feel of the original 80s arcade games and Dark Legacy.

Yay, someone who agrees with me. Finally ^_^

Plus, running people over in that game never gets old. I am in no way psychotically inclined ¬_¬
Haha, I drive on the pavements more than the road. It's funny when people grab your car door or something too and they drag along for ages before smacking their head off a curb.

Oh, and when you shoot someone and their gun goes off in a random direction. It's hilarious!

Timeshift. I never play single player games, so when a campaign grabs me and I end up playing it 3 times in succession, then I officially love the game - no matter what you say!

Fable (the first one mind you) oh and Dark Cloud and Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 as well. Oh and the first pokémon games red and blue, also (how could I forget) Zelda: the ocarina of time.

I gues they are all nostalgia based. :p

Medal of Honor Frontline. It may not have been the best game, or the most original, but I have fond memories of it, and the soundtrack is one of the best that I've heard in a game.

Final Fantasy X
It was the first game that I bought by myself. It had gorgeous cut scenes. The last game I had played before it was Zelda: Ocarina of Time, so that seemed important at the time. Also, my brother deemed it "gay" so I was able to play it without having to give up the controller.
However, I spent a shameful amount of time playing X-2 as well, for similar reasons.
Both of these. I'm considerably straight, but I enjoyed the campy Charlie's Angelsish feel in X-2, and X was just epic.

It's hard to narrow down to just one, but if I had to it'd likely be Unreal Tournament. I don't think there's a game in existence I've spent more time with, except possibly the original SMB. It's wonderful out of the box, and mods like oWo's TallyHo! (if you can even find it anymore), the little smiley-faced grenades, and the range of sniper/camper stuff out there only expanded on that wonderfulness. It's also one of the easier games out there to mod; as lazy as I am, even I have made a few things.

I'm also going to say Pac-Man, crushing my dreams of a list of one, but I think it's worth it. Here lately I've been losing hours to Pac-Man CE, a fantastic iteration up from the original game.

And I'll end the list with Mario 64. I still think it's the best 3d platformer to date.

Minecraft has the potential to make the list, but it'll have to work out some kinks (read: no longer be in alpha) first.

This thread made me register. Just sayin.

Mass Effect. Both of them, and the third one even though it isn't out yet. I don't pretend the games are flawless, but they are damn close. I've fallen in love with the story and the characters. Commander Shepard is the most thoroughly awesome being in any work of fiction ever, followed closely by Garrus and Wrex.

In my opinion, the best game franchise ever made.

Alright, fine. If Mass Effect doesn't count, Sly Cooper. All of them. Plenty of flaws, a plot that ends stupidly, but damned if those games weren't fun. Sly just kicks so much ass, running on ropes, climbing poles and such.

Legend of Dragoon, I fell in love with the story...even though it is somewhat flawed it is a gem of perfection in my mind. Gaming will never be that good again to me...Here is to hoping sony realizes true fans want a sequel. Even if it is officially now 10 years ago today from it's release as Write this message.
I agree with this, although I wouldn't go as far as perfection. It had a great core story, but it was translated and executed pretty badly. In my eyes, it did not harm the game, but instead made it much more enjoyable. It was a game that was not afraid to laugh at itself, yet it still presented a unique, enjoyable story. LoD is the narmiest charmiest game I have ever played, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Not to mention a simple yet entertaining battle system, and some great area designs. It all creates a charming atmosphere like no other. Even though it is nowhere near as underrated as everyone thinks it is.

My other pet is Runescape, for already mentioned reasons. It is also charming, and nowhere near as bad as most people make it out to be.
