all i gotta say is... look at the kingdom of the crystal skull... i'm not gonna say the first part of the title because A: i believe critics are full of horseshit after seeing this movie and burn after reading (sorry to whoever liked that movie, personally did not like) and B: it was a HORRIBLE MOVIE. took 10 years to get that piece of shit approved by you, spielberg, AND ford? come on Harrison i had so much faith in you! (not spielberg)
o and he shoulda stopped when he hired the teenage/young adult anakin... damn you hayden christensen

"I mean if we look at other people such as (forgive me) J.K.Rowling. She's milking Harry Potter so much I wouldn't be surprised if he started casting Cokeilius but no one seems to ***** at her to do something else."

i please hope you mean that she is destroying the fantasy genre forever because of her poor loopholes and inconsistences

Srsly though, whenever he feels like it. If you've got something you love to do and it makes somebody, anybody happy, then more power to you. I'm shocked he's lasted this long - there's got to be more to it than the money (Of course he's surrounded by $-Suckers :p), and I think it's just this; how many people can claim to be in an irreplacable position where they wouldn't wanna be doing anything else?
I suppose its POSSIBLE that he's doing it because he loves it, and that it feels like a first born to him, but then again it's also POSSIBLE that Billy Corgan put the Smashing Pumpkins back together after his failed solo show because he "wanted to play those songs again"

POSSIBLE, but not likely
its always about the money

But think how inconceivably rich Lucas must already be? Fair enough investors would be throwing him money-filled pool parties in the vain hope of him laying another golden egg for them (even if they all look somehow familiar...) But the lure of dosh has got to be wearing thin for someone who's been locked in the same franchise for the majority of his working and LIVING career.

Corgan wanted the Pumpkins back so he could be famous again, same deal with Axle Rose and Gunners, 'least that's what my gut tells me. But I guess i've always looked for a more human explanation than fiscal advantage. :)

Correction in the Republic we use credits. Chits and Denarii are acceptable terms though!

1978. By that time he'd had his one good idea and managed to create something good. (ESB and ROTJ were written by others).

I wouldn't mind his tinkering if we could actually choose which version we could buy. And to those who say, it's his work...Mind if Leonardo finishes the Mona Lisa then? He just wants to put a wacky background in and then xerox it.

I don't think he should stop, but I do think he should let someone else direct his movies. It worked with Ep. 4-6, it worked with Indy... why is he messing with that? The only reason his new movies suck is because he's using the big emotional brush all the time. A skilled director could cut that shit out, or at least tone it down a bit.

Name one other director who tampers with their original winning formula for better results. And I'm not talking about Director's Cuts, because by in large, they're naff too.

And Han shot first!

To be fair, the Christmas Special was not his doing. It was the result of a deal he signed before he knew Star Wars would be a big thing. Lucas hated the special when they showed it to him and made sure that it only ever aired once (the contractual minimum).

Lucas AND Speilberg should have stopped a long long time ago. Especially Speilberg.

They've both made a living adapting other people's stuff and/or rehashing the same products over and over again.

Just because he makes this crap doesn't mean we should all buy into it.
Think of him as the artistic equivalent of Microsoft and stop buying his yearly regurgitations until he gives us something decent.

I do think the prequel trilogy of Starwars could had been better.
-If the writing could have been better.
-Better cast (Anakin, young anakin, Padmé),
- No Jar-Jar and
-Not the entire focus on Anakin.

I seriously think it could had been better.

Lucas should have stopped after episode 6, return of the jedi. Sure, the concept for the newest 3 star wars movies was good, but Lucas shouldn't have anything to do with them other than some direction. Scripting and dialogue are his biggest weaknesses.

After taking a university course on the films of Spielberg and Lucas (yay for sleeper classes). A number of conclusions were made on why Lucas' movies suddenly turned to suck.

1. After the divorce from his wife, Lucas became much more of a recluse. Also there wasn't anyone to say "no" to Lucas' ideas or scripts without fear of getting fired.

2. Lucas had the "bright idea" in Episodes 1-3 that he'd take the best take of each actor and digitally compile them together. This is why it seems no one really reacts to one another and everyone looks like they're speaking in soliloquy, they're talking to someone who isn't there.

3. I think the popularity of the Expanded Universe, the quality of the stories and games and such as "Heir to the Force" and "The Courtship of Princess Leia" and such made expectations extremely high. Also probably explains Lucas starting to throw a fit and casting them all out as non-canon.

4. Just, overall, kinda sucked after Howard the Duck. Or if one counts collaborations, Last Crusade.

I dunno, I guess sometimes the candle burns too brightly.

He should've stopped after the Episode 6.
No good movies have been made after that

I think the real problem is that Lucas was given free reign. In the originals he was never actually directing the movie, but he did direct the later ones. I think that he probably filled the staff with yes men and that he could just get away with any idea, however stupid. This is why we have the prequel trilogy that we do.
