I have to say, I'm quite disturbed by what a work mate told me today. A small riot errupted in her street late last night after her neighbour told some kids across the street to keep the noise down. After they didn't he stupidly chased them away holding a pole in his hands causing the kids to run off, but instead of just going home and telling their parents these kids ripped out fence palings and letter boxes and started throwing them in retaliation. The neighbour copped head injuries and his girlfriend, who only came out to drag her partner back inside the house is getting her arm x-rayed, worried that she might have a fractures to her arm (she was in the house when this broke out.)
We are all well aware of who's fault it was that this started but it goes too far when police are called, only to say that they can't do anything about it because they are minors. These minors were also drinking and were from the age of 13. I'm sorry but minors or not, these kids should have been placed in the back of a paddy wagon and locked up until their parents picked them up. These kids are also known to break into homes and set things alight as an act of revenge.
What do you think should be done to prevent these occurances from happening again? (Aside from NOT chasing drunk minors with poles.) And also general thoughts and opinions.
