Just set up a camera outside the Londis on O'Connell street up by Abbey Street. Every time I go in there it's being robbed which means either I am hugely unlucky and always happen to walk in just as a robbery happens or it is just constantly being robbed. Hell that dude would probably turn up in the video running out with a baguette and a carton of milk.

I'd go for the latter option.

I'm from Perth, Australia. And the only person I ever found on this site from here was Vault101. And even then I think we lived at opposite ends of the city. I did offer to take her a movie one day, but the logistics of meeting up was too much.

I wear geeky shirts all the time, but it fits in with the relaxed dress code of Perth. No one really cares. So I continue to sport my Borderlands t-shirts with my rainbow mohawk, and enjoy the freedom!

There's a games group here that's gathered the nerds together, but most if not all of them are M:TG players, or Warhammer players. Not my thing. I have a small group that DM a D&D campaign with, although we haven't played in a while due to personal obligations in recent months. Otherwise, I'm pretty quiet about my geeky side, since as an Australian male, if it's not beer and sport, it's a target on your back.

On the serious side I'm not into talking to strangers. Don't find it as easy as I did when I was a teenager, which makes it hard to get new friends. Even harder when all my friends have moved away or I've broken all contact with them for various reasons. Could use some new ones. >.<'

I sometimes wear a geek t-shirt, but they don't attract the creepy folk looking for similar interest people in public.

I'm from Santa Clarita, California. A city sitting on top of a desert that is always growing with more people every second. When it hots its irritating, but when its cold (as of now) its heaven.

Do I make my self stand out as a geek? Yes and no.
The way I stood out amongst the boring crowd was I was very open about my geek way of life but not in my clothes, I dress very casually anyways (but man what I would kill for a P4 jacket) but in my conversation and how I was able to hold people's interest on my nerd and geek hobbies without them being seen as "obsessions" but as actual hobbies. I was the go to "Mahvel Gamer Movie guy" and I held that title for my time in high school.
Now I'm in community college and........ its bland. Everyone has the personality of a rock, I know for a fact there are geeks around my parts but man they really don't want to be open, so I'm back to a "nobody" status and talking to regular old people about... nothing.
All my friends are gone and Avengers 2 is a long way off... nothing or no one to talk to/about.

But although I hail from the small village of Tuil in the Netherlands, I currently live in the Belgian city of Ghent. Great place I must say.

Do I sport my geekiness? Somewhat. I pretty much only sport relatively stylish, geeky designs that look good even if you don't really get the reference. I try to keep it classy.

I'm from Woerden, a small rural town in The Netherlands. Do I hope to find like minded people there? Hell no.

So I am a very low key geek. And thank God for that, because I just turned 31, and no offense to anyone, but to go around wearing anime/game related clothing at that age is kinda pathetic.

England, Berkshire. If you've ever been to Windsor Castle, or Legoland- yeah, that's in Berkshire. That's the nice bit of Berkshire, mind. The bit I live in is a fair bit less well off than the surrounding areas, and has something of a reputation, at least in this part of the country.
Outside of school I don't seek similar minded people out. There are enough people with the same tastes in games, books and films in my year that I've never had issues finding somebody to play with. Heck, we've had to stop talking about our D&D group in public because so many people wanted to join after they heard. We had something like 10 people playing a 4 person campaign before it got sorted out.

I do not try to seek out any other geek in my town because I think I already know most of them. However, I am going to be starting an anime/manga club in my school to try and fish some of the people that are hiding from me. Plus it would probably be fun to get people to know the awesomeness that is manga/anime.

I'm from Queensland, Australia. I get given a lot of 'geek' t-shirts for Christmas, I think it's because most of my family know I like games and comic books but can't be bothered actually figuring out what I have/what's worth buying/etc so they just get me a shirt with Mario or Superman on it. So I wear those out a fair bit. I also tend to hang around the comic book store sometimes just to chit chat with other people. I've also gone to the Mana Bar a few times and it's a great place to talk to like-mindeds.

I'm from The Capital Wasteland...but I kinda kept to myself because reasons...Also I moved out of The Capital Wasteland and now live in north-east Georgia...in the mountains...where there appear to be mountain-dwelling squids...I'm going to continue being reclusive except of course during cons which I think...yeah, next year when I got to Escapist Expo (I FUCKING MEAN IT THIS TIME) I'm closer to Durham now than I was when I lived in the Capital Wasteland.

Århus, Denmark, the second largest city in the country. I moved here almost three years ago from a small town (Rønne) on a tiny island (Bornholm). It is fantastic! I've never met so many nerdy people in my life and there are so many different nerdy communities here. I know this thread is mainly aimed at how we attract our fellow nerdy humans, but I just wanted to say that after I moved I managed to, at the age of 23, finally get a gay 'support system' (not really sure of the right word for this) when I joined the LGBT youth group. When I lived in Rønne I had plenty of geeky friends - I attract them with my adorable weirdness, I'm sure - so that has never really been an issue for me, but I never thought I was gonna met for instance a ftm transgendered person, and now I'm friends with several. I know this seem of very little relevancy, but given my own gender dysphonia it was just amazing to be able to meet someone I could actually talk to about that.

I don't dress up particularly nerdy to get people to recognize my nerdy potential, but I think I'm the kind of person who just naturally comes across as such. Maybe I'm just a bit too odd to be taken for one of the 'normal' people. I do tend to dyke up my look though, because I want people to see that I'm not the straight little girl they tend to assume me to be and to attract like-minded people. Mainly women. And I throw in very 'subtle' hint of my attraction towards women when I speak with men in the hopes that they'll treat me more like one of the guys than a potential shag. Might just be me though.

I live in Erie, Pennsylvania in the glorious US of A. I'm not overly geeky on the outside, I usually wear a lot of sport team shirts or something relating to alcohol in some way. I do have a few geeky shirts but I don't wear them that often. My friends also range from geeky to not geeky at all.

I very rarely wear t-shirts except for exercise but most of them are cartoon or comic related. Occasionally I'll make references but they usually go over people's heads so not very often.

For some reason I imagined you being shirtless all day long until you needed to get exercise, then you finally put one on .

I live in America, east coast and I um... don't do much. I joined our schools RPG club but mainly I don't go out to meet new people and I stay quiet. Aside from the RPG club the only other thing I did was come onto the escapist and start chatting in a forum game and i'm pretty sure that's the only two times I ever tried to meet people >.> OH no, I also went on the Bioware forums but that was a bust so : P

I live in Chandler, Arizona and I really don't seek out anything geek oriented here.

Mainly because I wouldn't know where to start and it's probably far from me to make the drive over not really worth it. I have some geeky shirts, but I normally wear them when I have a day off from work.

My friends don't share the interests that I have in things like games, and Magic, but we all have other interests that we share so it's not an issue to where we have nothing to talk about.
