This is sort of my unoffical guide for people to use for where to STOP POSTING.

First off stop posting in game hate threads. These are clearly made for the reason off "I need an easy badge and don't care about trolls"

Second, stop posting in "Am I the only one?" posts. Again, just another troll set-up.

Third, stop posting in rants. Again these are for the OP to get a badge.

Edit: Forth, those "What would you do in a Zombie Apacolypse" threads also seems like a badge attempt.

~Please add if you feel I'm missing anything~

EDIT: If you are just going to complain here about these being bad ideas. LEAVE NOW.

Don't post in topics that tell you where not to post, as they will tell the OP they shouldn't post in the topic they have just started, which will start a flame war.

I don't post in topics that I've seen come and go with the same content over and over and OVER (sorry.. my fingers slipped) again. I mean, think of something different or a creative spin-off from something else! I won't be held responsible for the post count you will get from it though.

Just keep your eyes out for trolls and that little red button. Push when you think you have one and walk away. Don't worry about dealing with the troll, that is the Mod's job.

I mildly agree with the first two and not that much with the third one.

I get the impression that when people come here, they believe it is usually accepted to make threads hating on a popular game or "Am I the only one" threads. Sometimes they need to be told that those kind of threads are looked down upon.

But it's a rare occurrence.

As for the third one, I don't see how it would be wrong with rants as long as they are well made. I seem to recall several well-done threads that were primarily rants. I don't think we need to discourage rant threads or the support of them. On the contrary, we should encourage people to make better rant threads.

Now, to add my own options, troll threads are an obvious answer, but one I'll stick by nonetheless.

Can't think of anything else.
Rendering the post useless, except for the bad joke at the start.
What irony?
(If you mean the first guy who posted, thats not irony, thats troll)

I mean the rants that are made just to piss people off and make the post out of pure anger.

I honestly don't see where you get the right to tell someone where they can and cannot post.
If they want to respond to a specific thread, and the thread is within the site's rules, there is no reason why they can't post in it.
YOU don't have to post in it, so, if you don't like one, don't. I see no reason why you dislike threads like those getting high posts, because if you don't like it, you can ignore it.
This came off as a little more inflammatory than I planned, and I apologize for that.
I didn't intend it to seem so douchey.

The more I read that the more confused I get. At first it seems like you are trying to troll.

This is suggestions of how to cut down on trolls and duplicate threads. Not a "You must stand in line" thread. You people take stuff to seriously.

That's not troll.

And I mean the fact that you most likely made this thread to get a badge.
I already have the only post badge I'll ever get so I really don't see a reason for trying for others.

Oh come on!

Everybody loves badges! :3

[small]well I do...[/small]
I just get annoyed when 4 out of 5 posts all seem like a "I really want a shiny new badge so post here!" thread.

So... stop... posting, then?

Tell you what, how about you don't post in these threads, and leave those who want to, to do their thing?
AGAIN! I said this is a suggestion to cut back on trolls and duplicate threads. Not a "Stand in line or die" command thread.

Considering that 99% of threads are duplicate threads in some form, I fail to see how stopping the ones that you notice more than others is effective/practical in any way.[footnote]Troll threads are the exception, but most of the time, the ones I'm thinking of get locked/deleted rather quickly.[/footnote] I just fail to see why you feel the need to make a guide when you can simply ignore the threads you don't like, or feel don't need to be made.
And you probably missed it, but I edited my earlier post, saying that I didn't intend to be so inflammatory. I'm sorry if I'm still coming across that way, but I had/have no intentions of starting a flame war of any sort.
