We’re talking about doctors here. They might be able to perform complex surgery but telling people apart from each other is almost an impossibility for them
Nurses taking people to the theatre actually by the sounds of things.

Just like with the recent shootings and such. I'm ok with waiting a while to see what comes of it or what evidence surfaces.

Since people who, continually, leap out in front of this stuff tend to get run over...only to hop right back up and do it again.

On its face though? Yeah, looks bad.

It's looking increasingly bad. This latest report is particularly damning:

"Benjamin Osorio, another lawyer representing women in the Irwin County facility, said two of his clients received hysterectomies that they believe may have been unnecessary.

One of the women, who is of child-bearing age, was told she needed to have a hysterectomy after Amin found ovarian cysts, Osorio said. She was advised that they were cancerous, but her records indicate she was not given a biopsy to confirm the cancer, he said. In another case, he said, his client was told she had stage 4 cervical cancer and would need a hysterectomy and chemotherapy. But after her hysterectomy, an oncologist in Charlotte said she did not have cancer, according to Osorio."

I'm not a doctor, or a nurse, but...treating ovarian cysts, which are commonly caused by menstrual cycles, *without* 1) a biopsy to check for cancer, or 2) considering other less invasive/expensive treatment options before hysterectomies is fucking malpractice at best, and criminal at worst.

People who are advocating the "wait and see" approach and comparing it it recent events are missing that this isnt a situation that has happened, and it's left to see where things fall.
This is a situation which is currently happening, and may still be actively causing harm.

Because us randos on a forum that all live in different places are capable of doing something about this...

If we were an actual governing body (God help that particular timeline) then you'd have a point but I think it's fair for those of us with no real power to pursue this wait and see what those who can will turn up.

Firstly, we can have opinions on what those with power should do.

Secondly, I imagine a lot of the same ICE structure will be in place come November, when US-based Escapists can do something.

Yes. But I think it's perfectly fair to reserve ones opinion when they feel they don't know enough to give one.

I think most people's stance was "Wait and see what an actual investigation finds" rather than "Wait and see if things get worse".

A person MAY be actively causing harm in the community but you can't know they are without looking into all the fact and with quite a number of hoaxes of various kinds happening I don't think jumping to conclusions is the right cause here. I mean how many times does Sam Hyde have to be the gunman at large for people to ask if maybe we should wait for more info?

So this is by admission that this is an attempt to sway the electoral vote with what may be a single rogue doctor or just normal operations causing an weird pattern to emerge?

In cases like this, they really need to have a court order the detention facility to stop sending patients to to that particular medical facility and send them elsewhere until the investigation is complete or has determined harm isn't being done to the patients to prevent more harm to coming to the patients there as well as a temporary order preventing the physician from taking patients until the investigation determines it is safe for him to continue. The court could also prevent the nurses involved from seeing patients as well considering what is stated in this report. The court has a few options for doing so, they can temporarily suspend their medical license or suspend operations at the facility or address it at the detention center.

For example, I had a criminal dentist when I was growing up who was illegally injecting patients with illegal substances into their gums and teeth, including myself, ( I lost a molar due to this) when the criminal investigation begun, the court ordered a temporary order preventing him from treating patients while the investigation was underway. He was later found guilty and went to prison, but the court did not wait until they found him guilty to do so, they stopped him from practicing while the investigation was going on. This evidence presented in this current report would be grounds for the court to do so in this case as well.

This is the latest in a long list of reported abuses and violations within ICE detention facilities. It is also the kind of thing that could only occur in places that lack the necessary oversight and transparency.

So, yes, there's definitely more to consider than an individual rogue operative.

Biden won’t do shit to kneecap ICE anyway. We should destroy their toys ourselves.

Please no more failed firebombing attempts on ICE facilities.
Best thing a member of the JBGC ever did, a true credit to their namesake. Screwing up a couple deportation busses is good actually.

which your taxes will just pay for to be replaced lol
I mean, they're not using the taxes properly.....

I'm not American but we have similar stupid nonsense on Manus Island where we pay billions of dollars to keep a few thousands boat people from reaching Australia. We've been paying the same group of people for 6 years, because they are refugees and can't be sent back but we can't have them here... Because racists. So billions of dollars is wasted and I don't get a say. I'd prefer them here, working to pay taxes. But apparently I'm he stupid one

When an incident like this is reported, ideally the idea is you issue what the building industry calls a “Stop Work” notice. On even the slimmest evidence, a federal law enforcement and investigation service should have marched in with independent doctors and the facility taken over until such time they are satisfied there are no abuses, or in the case of abuses being present start with arrests and criminal prosecutions.

Wait and see is for pontificating spectators; it has no place in agencies and body’s responsible for oversight and integrity.
