I was with Light right from the start. The moment he kills Naomi Misora was actually the moment I fell in love with the series. Her death caused a warm fuzzy feeling inside of me and put a tear of joy on my cheek.Raven said:I rooted for Light up until he
starts killing the FBI agents, and particularly Raye Penbar's wife... That was just too cold no matter how you look at it.
As I empathised with him up until that point I still remained very interested in him although L had definitely started to grow on me.
I think it got to the point where L and Light needed eachother to give validity to eachothers existence so I couldn't really bring myself to root for one or the other. I think I just wanted them to be friends...
Seriously? The fact that Light does the things he does is entirely what leads to his downfall. It's his own arrogance that's to blame for his eventual defeat. The best way to do things would have been to do everything the same until L showed up. Then, stop using the Death Note completely, hide it, and spend as much time and effort as possible to find out what L's true identity is. Then, kill L with the notebook, and carry on killing criminals as normal. If Near had then turned up, rinse and repeat. Same for Mello. Light's arrogance in continuing to use the Note under L's nose was what made L so suspicious of him, and doing the same thing with Near later just sent everything crashing down around him. Otherwise Near wouldn't have even had a suspect to begin with...Vonnis said:Light. If I were in his position I'd do the exact same things (well, almost. I wouldn't have gone for the smarter girl).
I think this pretty much sums up fan opinion pretty nicely.WorldCritic said:I didn't really root for either Light or L, I just enjoyed seeing the two of them constantly outsmarting each other. That is until Near showed up, ruined the show for me, and made me root for Light.
