I plan on picking the game this afternoon. I have heard some interesting things about soul calibur V like the online modes and the fighting mechanics work well but the story mode is very insubstantial, 2 hours long. What are your guys' thoughts?
Character creation has been in since like the third game and in fairness it's actually pretty good. Sure you can make some complete clusterfucks of neon and transvestism (is that even a word?) but if you do it well you can make some cool looking characters.HyruleThrasher said:I'll probably end up picking it up. I'm a freak when it comes to fighting games, so it seems like a shoe-in for my burgeoning collection.
As far as creating your own character goes, one of the older MK games tried that out and it ended up being pretty goofy, so I'm skeptical.
While I agree that story modes in fighting games aren't exactly important, I do feel that enough fighters have included solid single player modes to make it little more than an excuse if you don't at least make some effort. To not recognize that at least some people interested in buying your game are looking for something they can spend time with on their own is just shooting yourself in the foot.endtherapture said:Are the story modes ever important in games like this? From the fighting games I've played, they're just a string of progressively harder battles with a cool cutscene at the end.
Ditto. Normally, I'd say that my love for SCII would be nostalgia glasses, but having recently gone back and played it, I can say that SCII is just as good as I remember it being.AC10 said:I found SC4 was kind of shit, so I'm not really interested in 5.
Two was probably my favorite in the series.
