I find Drizzt bad ass, but there's not much to him now. I know all about him, it's just him kickin everyone's ass.

Artemis Entreri is by far one of my favs. I like his dark mood, his quiet, brooding nature, and his awesome sword skill.

Elric is also one of my favs...i guess I just like dark heroes.

Probably an unpopular choice but I'm gonna go with Heathcliff from Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights.

Eisenhorn or Ravenor, both awesome
I like Eisenhorn more as a character, but I think Ravenor is better written.

I'm stuck with choices here.

For a start, I regard Ibram Gaunt, Lijah 'Fething' Cuu, Hlaine Larkin, 'Try Again' Bragg and Colm Corbec as some of the greatest characters ever to be created for the world of Warhammer 40000, and all five hail from Dan Abnetts's Gaunt's Ghosts series of novels.

However, certain characters from the Discworld saga are also awesome. Namely, Samuel Vimes, The Librarian, Cohen the Barbarian and Mustrum Ridcully.

Finally, since I'm re-reading the Edge Chronicles, I've really grown to love the four main characters of Twig, Quint, Rook and Nate.

Bud Corliss from 'A kiss before dying'.
He got all three Kingship sisters, and killed two.
He's smart and evil. What else do you need?

Anomander Rake from The Malazan Book of the Fallen series is the personification of awesome.

Son of Darkness, Knight of High House Dark, Draconic Soletaken and bearer of Dragnipur.
Not to metion his awesomeness in Toll the Hounds, which I won't spoil.

Harry Dresden, Gandalf (only cos he does magic a hell of a lot less).

I'd like to say the joker, but he's just a macguffin.
