The answer is green lantern. With that ring, he can do pretty much goddamned anything. Like make kryptonite to kill supes. But, as for who's the best, the answer to that is batman. Green lantern is the most powerful, batman is the the coolest.
Yeah, but Green Lanterns weakness is the colour yellow.
Only because of an impurity that was later removed.

The Specture is more powerful than most Gods. He's immortal and can destroy anyone he wants in gruesome ways just by blinking.

Zatana can turn someones blood to lava just by saying it backwards.

and superman is allergic to colored rocks, it doesn't change the fact that the green lantern could produce as much of the lethal stuff as he wanted. Not to mention he could form it into any weapon he wanted. Also, as somebody else stated, the yellow impurity was removed.

I'd have to say Goku if he counts as a Super Hero not sure if he counts according to this thread.
Either him or a small child sitting on a large piece of kryptonite would beat Superman.

Captain Atom pulled this on Superman and it didn't work. The problem is Kryptonite doesn't make Superman a cripple, it just weakens him.

There are a number of incidences of the Green Corps not being able to deal with a Superman, most notably Infinite Crisis where hundreds of them cannot contain a rampaging Superboy.
Depends on the amount. A small amount will weaken him but a decent sized chunk can be fatal.
Based on ... that time Superman died???
Most of the time Superman is in contact to Kryponite no bigger then your palm and this makes him so weak he can barley crawl. A smart man would try expose Superman to some kryponite tie him to an anchor,Tie the Kyrponite around his neck and then drop him in the Alantic. He may be Super but he still needs oxygen.

Batman, any mage you care to name from Strange to Zatanna, Sentry and Hulk. I'd like to take this moment to remind everyone that Superman is vulnerable to kryptonite, magic and generous amounts of beatings. Doomsday killed him in the 80s, Hulk should have no toruble with him if we use the Hulk between Planet Hulk and World War Hulk. The Marvel reality nailers could do it, so Scarlet Witch, Jamie Braddock and Franklin Richards if they lose his mental blocks. Black Swan might be able to do it, though we've no real measure of his power bar his very limited appearences in Deadpool. Also, Squirrel Girl.

Goku is a good one. Super Sayan that can teleport and have himself reconstituted after death. Traveled the galaxy even without a ship. Has the strength to destroy a planet...

Good one. I still go with Dr. M though.

The flash.
All he has to do to beat superman as run back through time and punch his mother in the stomach.

He can run through time, dimensions, walk through objects, turn invisible. He just wins.

OR, Batman with a green lantern ring.

Friend asked me this morning I couldn't find a better answer. Please follow the below rules so we can't have Dark Phoenix...

Who is the most powerful super-Hero?
Has to be a hero.
Has to be in the standard cannon (no zombie Galactus).

I couldn't find anything better than Superman during the Silver Age who able to move faster than the speed of light and move planets. I know he's vulnerable to magic (but there are no magic users I know that could react faster than Superman moving at +light speed). Kryptonite again but there's the challenge of actually using.
Green Lantern. Take your pick. Kyle Rayner as Ion, Hal Jordan in his heyday, Jon Stewart is meant to be the most powerful of them all, and Alan Scott is 100% magic.

Failing that, if you want to talk speed. Flash. Think velocity, and the fact that he's so fast he can vibrate through walls. Now think of a blow on superman, and the fact that Soupes may never be able to hit him if he tries hard enough because the Flash is faster. No one actually cares about him, but The Flash is technically the most powerful hero, because he possesses near infinite energy due to his speed.

Except everytime he uses it that much he endangers himself from absorbed by the speed force. I do believe The Flash is a strong contender, the only problem is he is awfully fragile and can't fly.

Infinite Crisis shows how effect Green Lanterns are against a kryptonian, the answer is they aren't.

Silver Age Superman is capable of time travel too.

Green Lantern Rebirth says hi. Though that isn't against silver age Soupes, but still.

And if I can't have that one...then Goku.

By the end of Z he was basically a god. IMHO he would beat Superman, Silver Age or otherwise.

+1 man. Whatever you compare him to, he is always that +1, thus nothing can actually surpass him.

In all seriousness... I'm going to have to go with the Flash on this one. It would be a very very long fight though.

I think Goku could beat Superman (as previously stated) but he's not really a superhero. Japanese comics don't really compare. Goku seems only to exist to battle other super-creatures. There's not really any intentional 'saving' except by implication.

Also, cool picture.

I'm not actually familiar with Rebirth. Is the super-powered Green Lantern a villain? Because the rules are 1) Super HERO and 2) normal continuity.

[HEADING=1]Wait! Wait Wait Wait Waaaait...[/HEADING]

I completely forgot about two heroes, Jesus...

One is Dr Strange.

The sorcerer supreme. He was so frickin' powerful he actually refused to take part in Civil War, a marvel comics event. He basically has a spell for everything, and is technically the most powerful character in the marvel universe. But then so is...

The Sentry.

With the power of a million exploding suns, this hero is overkill. He's effortlessly beaten people who can slice planets in half, and has never shown his full power. I think that says it all.

Shit...technically they did go rogue for a bit...

Gah! Fine! But the above still stand.
