Teyrn Loghian from Dragon Age: Origins.

After being shown how much of a dick he is, having it drawn out over about 40 hours and then finally duelling him 1 on 1 is very satisfying. Especially when you can give him a death sentence. Had an absolute power trip when that happened.

Bowser. the modsbanned Koopa king.

Not only is he cool, he's also got endless perseverance, and he's good to his minions. As long as I don't have to kill mario and co, I'd join his koopa troop to help them gain the freedom and recognition they all deserve!

The straight block from Tetris.
You may think nothing of it, but it already has planned your assassination.

My Top 12 Video Game villains, along with some quotes from each of the villains.

       12. Yuber - The Suikoden Series

"How nice of them to come rather than run away. At last I'll have my fill of blood."

"Chaos would suit me just fine."

"I simply desire a good fight with plenty of blood and the screams of the dying."

       11. The Duck Hunt Dog

*snicker*

       10. Psycho Mantis - Metal Gear Solid

"In my lifetime, I have read the pasts, presents and futures of thousand upon thousands of men and women, and each mind that I pear into was stuffed with the same single object of obsession. That selfish and atavistic desire to pass on one's seed, it was enough to make me sick. Every living thing on this planet exists to mindlessly pass on their DNA. We're designed that way. And that's why there is war. But you... you are different...You're the same as us. We have no past, no future. We live in the moment. That's our only purpose. Humans weren't designed to bring each other happiness. From the moment we're thrown into this world, we're fated to bring each other nothing but pain and misery. The first person who's mind I dove into was my father's. I saw nothing but disgust and hatred for me in his heart. My mother died in childbirth and he despised me for it. I thought my father was going to kill me. That's when my future disappeared. I lost my past as well. When I came to, the village was engulfed in flames"

       9. Ghaleon - Lunar Series

"For though I shall perish, I go knowing that I succeeded in tearing your one true love from you eternally. And blacken this pathetic world, forever."

"Now that you failed in every possible way, the whole world awaits execution at Zophar's hands. But that's too good for you; you're not worthy to live for Zophar's judgment. Pear into the eyes of your executioner."

       8. GlaDOS - Portal

"Fantastic. You remained resolute and resourceful in an atmosphere of extreme pessimism."

"There was even going to be a party for you. A big party, that all of your friends were invited to. I invited your best friend the Companion Cube. Of course, he couldn't come, because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come either, because you don't have any other friends, because of how unlikable you are. It says so right here in your personnel file; 'Unlikable. Liked by no one. A bitter unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned.' SHALL NOT BE MOURNED. That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you were adopted. So that's funny too."

"Have I lied to you? I mean, in this room?"

       7. Kefka Palazzo - Final Fantasy VI

"Hee, hee! Nothing can beat the music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison."

"Read my lips - mercy is for wimps! There's a reason 'oppose' rhymes with 'dispose' ...If they get in your way, kill them!"

"Life...dreams...hope...Where do they come from? And where do they go? Such meaningless things...I'll destroy them all!"

       6. Margulis - Xenosaga

"Behold the light that spreads before your eyes. This light once symbolized civilization, the very will of the human race. But what can be gleam by the light we see today? The people of this world have cast away their will to create, drowning themselves instead in an endless light of consumption. What you see now is the deceitful light cast by their stagnant eyes.

The people you encounter in your life time are not people at all. They are less then human, mere sacks of flesh and bone. Only upon the realization of self will can a person truly be called a man. You choose to reject the false light, refused to succumb to their lies, that's why you never faltered."

"Those who died with their beliefs were the happy ones. But what about me?"

"As a warrior and as a man, I will leave my mark upon the world"

       5. Ganon - Zelda Series

"I will destroy you and make my wish to conquer both Light and Dark Worlds come true without delay."

       4. Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII

"I've always felt since I was small. That I was different from the others. Special; in some way. But, not like this."

"What I want, Cloud, is to sail the cosmos with this planet as my vessel. Just as Mother did long ago. then one day we'll find a new planet and on it's soil we'll create a shining future."

       3. Red Pyramid Thing - Silent Hill Series

Silence.

       2. Id - Xenogears

"Dropping a ship on me is cheating! Take it back!"

"Names do not matter. However, if you insist... Id."

"Fine. You will do fine, as my toy ...for today."

"You don't need to understand, but when the time comes, just take it as it comes, reality and death. I'll eventually get to you. Be seeing you."

       1. Sweet Tooth - Twisted Metal Series

"Three months in the nut house, it was the longest I ever been confined. So a few people were killed, it wasn't my fault. (Please don't, I got a family, please no!) Shut up and bleed you mother fu-- Well, maybe it was my fault, but I had my own problems to worry about. The old man's curse was beginning to piss me off. But then one day he show up. Calypso, he called himself. It was a stupid name. I wanted to kill him there and then, but he made me an offer. He said he ran some kind of crazy contest. If I won his game, he promised to show me how to bring and end to the curse. No more head aches. As much as I had those old urges of mine, I kept them to myself for the moment. I figured, I'd play along with his little game. After all, I could always kill him later."

"I was out like the dying heart beat of a little girl. It was the first time in forever I hadn't felt the burning. And the dreams. Boys and girls, those were some wonderful dreams. All my greatest achievements flash before my eyes. The scale of what I've done. The sheer volume of people I killed. It was breath taking. But like all good things, it had end sometime. When they capture me, the only thing I could think was: What a waste, all those people I hadn't killed yet. Come the night of my execution, there must have been over a thousand people gathered outside to watch me fry. I was upset about that. There should have been more. I remember there was this preacher in the observation room. I figured he was just some bible thumper wanting to save my soul. But as it turn out, the old man had something else in mind. As I fired, he started screaming out like the freak he was. He asked god to curse me, to burden me forever with the flames of hell. It took me less than a minute to kill three police offers ...and get my mask back on. I never used to believe in curses, but it's been three months since that night, and the pain gets worse every day. So let me tell you something boys and girls. I sure as hell believe in curses now."

"The contest was over, so I went and saw Calypso. I asked him to make good on his promise. To bring an end to all the pain. To take away my curse. He offered me a vial. He said inside it held the blood of the man that cursed me on the night of my execution. He told me if I drank it, my curse would be over. But he also said, if I ever returned to my killing ways, the antidote would wear off, and the curse would come back to haunt me. I had to decide. It took me all of ten seconds. Let's face it boys and girls, a man has to have his priorities. ...I killed Calypso about as well as I ever killed anyone. Now that I'm free, I'm going to be the greatest of all time."

Kefka from FF 3/6, i mean seriously, he's insane, he's a clown (no seriously, face paint and all), he blows up part of the planet using a floating continent he created, he's the ruler of an evil empire, and he becomes a god.

seriously, whats not to love? he would kill a planet just for shits and giggles, then fly off somewhere to amuse himself, how awsome is that XD

The villian in the movie "Law Abiding Citizen".
That was the only movie that made me like the supposed villian more than the rest of the characters.

Probably either Pinhead (Hellraiser) or Randall Flagg (Stephen King's works).

Pinhead because he's polite, well-spoken, and dedicated not to murder and world domination (usually), but pain. He doesn't care about killing people; he wants to hurt them, and you know he's getting off on it. He loves it. And it's creepy as hell. (He's also the only good thing about Hellraiser movies after part 3 or so.)

Randall Flagg for somewhat the same reason. He's just so cheerily evil. He'll cut throats, crucify dissenters, convince the lost and lonely to do the same, threaten and almost succeed with nuclear holocaust, conquer entire countries, all with a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He's totally unrepentant... and it's just skin-crawlingly creepy. And if you kill him, he just regenerates elsewhere and elsewhen.

Glados from Portal.

Jarlaxle from R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt books, despite the fact that i can't stand reading anything Salvatore writes anymore. granted, he's more of an anti-villain that than a true villain.

Jaime Lannister from GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire. though as the series progresses he's more of an anti-villain as well.

My favourite? Hmmm, that's a hard choice. There's lots of villians I like. I suppose Sephiroth from FF7 is the first one that comes to mind. But for books...there's just too many too choose from.

Although a good one is Nicodemus from The Dresden Files. He can be cool and very creepy at the same time.

Movies: None. all of the great villains from movies are all based on books.

Games: Nergal from Fire Emblem (if you've played it, you know what I mean)
Kefka from FFVI (he's almost as good as they come)
Raem/Memoria from FF:CC (love the game)
SHODAN from System Shock (also pretty damn good)
Ashera from Fire Emblem: Radient Dawn (hey, you're fighting a supposedly "benevelent" godess. S'all I'm saying)

Books: Voldemort from Harry Potter (don't give me that look, haters)
Hao Asakura from Shaman King (FRIGGIN GAH)
Yuca Collabell from Immortal Rain (a very believeable person)

There's also this one dude from Julian May's Pleciocine Saga, but I haven't finished that yet.

Umbridge from Harry Potter.

Hey, I may get some flak for this, but Umbridge was written so well that I actually developed a truly deep-seeded hatred for her. When she appears onscreen in the movie adaptations I just sit there and grit my teeth. Grrrrrr. It is made evident, not just through stories, but actual actions that you witness her doing that make you hate her. I agree that Loghain (DAo) is an excellent villan and Bioware(ofcourse) writes him excellently, but a lot of the major dicky stuff he does happens off screen. For umbridge, you're there for all of it. And that gets to you.

Shelob from the Lord of The Rings.
The book goes into her personal philosophy and drive, and it describes how her kind were hated by elves and hunted into extinction, all apart from her, so she is the last of her kind, and she just flees wretchedly into a hole in the mountains and sits for millenia, hating everything around her, she is a pure nihilist.

Now in the LotR universe magical power and ability is strongly linked to a persons will and determination, and she has wanted nothing less than to see the world destroyed, she brooded away in her cave, getting more and more powerful. The rock and stone in the area has become physically eroded by the sheer strength of her hatred, and when Samwise pulls out the vial of star to ward her off it initially doesn't work, as her will is more powerful than the Elven will in the star.
The sword Sting also only manages to impale her because it was made by the elves for the purpose of killing her kind, so all its enchantments and its will are super effective against her, still it only pierces her hide, which was so thick because her hatred had a physical manifestation on her body because she forces herself down on top of Samwise, and he held the sword firmly. Even then it is not known whether the strike killed her.

I loved it because she is said to be even more powerful than Sauron, and was one of the biggest threats to Frodo and Sam, despite never being known to them beforehand. It perfectly illustrates that LotR is not really about any of the characters in the story, but the world they lived in.

The Overmind from Starcraft of course.

All knowing, all powerful, controls Billions of lesser beings all in an effort to just, well, eradicate and become perfect.

It has an awesome voice too.

I really like Ghaleon from Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. Not the original, mind you, but the remake that a lot of purists railed against. For those who haven't played it (the vast majority, I'm sure), Ghaleon comes off as a pretty typical grandiose and hammy villain, but by the end is revealed to have been just really lovesick and trying very hard to do what he thought was right and was willing to take up the mantle of villain to make the world a better place. A villain who makes you wonder if you were really on the right side is the best kind.

Movie: The whole mafia family in Dick Tracy.

Book: Badrang from Martin the Warrior.

Game: M.Bison from Street Fighter 2.
