I think an older, more serious and more mature doctor, with the potential for some maniacal glee like Christopher Eccleston is what's needed after Matt Smith and Moffat's...playful series.
I wanted him already as the 11th one due to his performance in Jekyll and for the same reasons, being that he could be an older, more serious Doctor while still being able to be gleefully mad.
It also helps that Jekyll was by Moffat sooo...maybe this time?

Everything Moffat touches turns to gold except Doctor Who, it seems to me that he thinks of Doctor Who as a kid's show while occasionally throwing older viewers a bone in the form of a dick/vagina joke.
