Why all the hate?

Because people don't always agree with your thoughts.

Get over it, then realize other peoples opinions have no real affect on what you think unless you let them.

Why are we talking about this?!?!?

Why do you feel the need to ask about 'hate' vs 'a different opinion' than your own?

I hate that he plays the same awkward teenager in every movie. Sure, that's fine for one or two movies but when you do it for EVERY movie, it's annoying. Zombieland is the only movie I've seen with him that I've liked, and that was because of zombies and Woody Harrelson.
At the risk of not getting an obvious joke, thats Jessi Eisenburg in zombie land.
He does get mistaken for Jessi Eisenburg a lot though, he said in an interview that he gets people coming up to him and saying "I loved you in Zombieland" and he says "If you liked Zombieland then you should check out Adventureland!"

Scott Pilgrim should be more than enough to change your opinion of Michael Cera.
Seriously? *goes to check IMDB and facepalms* Jesus, they look alike!

Anyway, sure I guess I'll give Scott Pilgrim a try. Superbad and Juno (Teacher made us watch it a few years back. Hate that movie SO MUCH!) are what soured my opinion of Cera in the first place anyway.

I'm going to have to pick you out here, many apologies.

This is the reason I hate actors like Michael Cera, because he doesn't attract fans for his acting talent or interesting personality - He attracts them because he is *to some* attractive.

And y'know what guys - Attractiveness is not a talent, and attracting teenage girls is certainly not a talent. He's the actor equivalent of a band like Bring me the Horizon.

This is actually the first time I've heard people hating on him.
I don't have much of an opinion because I've only seen him in Scott Pilgrim. People might ***** that he plays the same roles, but if he spread his wings a little, people will still probably ***** that he can't do it.

That being said, he has only one role he can play extremely well, so depending on how you look at it, he's either a pretty bad or pretty good actor.
Totally random: Every time I see your avatar I giggle. Thank you. =P

q fucking q.

People need to hate something, and it helps even more when they have a movie that has just come out which splits people opinions.

Personally I loved Pilgrim, but I am inpartial to Cera. Not many actors/actress cause me take notice. Apart from Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Omnomnomnomnom.

Generally don't hate/love actors because... well... its fucking pointless.

When I heard that the Scott Pilgrim movie was gonna be made..
I was always hoping that Scott would be Sean Pegg and Nick Frost would be Ramona.
I have to admit that I haven't seen the Scott Pilgrim movie yet, because they're releasing it in my country next November (or October?).

I don't have much of an opinion on Michael Cera though.

Some people have a face that makes you furious. It evokes an irrational and primal feeling that just makes you want to punch them.

At least that's my reasoning.
YES. That's exactly why.

I enjoy his movies and acting and stuff but just...
that look...

I wonder if there's anyone who is just making up an excuse 'cause they're so insanely jealous of his money and ability to make out with attractive young celebrities.

Reminds me of Jennifer Aniston, I can't stand her cause she is the same role in each movie except I think Michael Cera is at least acting that one role while Jennifer Aniston ummm just acting like herself is not acting....

You know what, that's completely understandable.

I don't find him annoying. His roles are quite cute even though he does repeat them a lot. He's the lovable dork almost every movie should have. ^_^

Maybe I'm weird, but I don't dislike him, but it seems a lot of people do. I'll admit my judgement may change in the future if he doesn't try doing a role other than "Awkward teen", but as it stands he doesn't ruin movies for me in the way Seth Rogen does.

So do you hate Michael Cera? Why or why not?
Awkward teens don't like that Cera is making millions pretending to be an awkward teen.

That whole jealousy thing.

It's just the fact he's the same person every time.
So is Clint Eastwood, but I'm guessing you don't mind that.

OP: As for Cera, I like him. He's a good actor.
Yeah, could you really imagine Cera being the bad guy? Or Eastwood as the nerd?

Only really seen him in Scott Pilgrim

He was good, but he mumbled and stuff. That's most probably the way the character's meant to be portrayed, but it dosen't mean I have to like it.

Plus, everyone around here keeps telling me that he's just like my friend. The only similarities is that they're both polite and well-groomed. Y'might as well compare him to Hugh feckin' Grant.

No, Katanas were used by Ninjas, the Samurais Mortal Enemy, while Samurais used Samurai Swords. Katanas were just based in the Samurai Sword.

I think.
anime is not history. video games are not history. everything you just said was incorrect.

"The katana (刀?) is Japanese for backsword and often refers to the uchigatana after the Muromachi period, which is a type of Japanese sword (日本刀, nihontō?), also commonly referred to as a "samurai sword.[1]

In the strictest sense, the term katana in Japanese is applied to any kind of single-edged sword, of any origin, and does not necessarily refer to a Japanese sword.

"Katana" was originally used as a general term for a single-edged sword having a "sori" or curvature of the blade. While the "sugata" or form can take many shapes, including double edged, the term is now used incorrectly to describe nihontō that are 2 shaku (606 mm / 24 in) and longer, also known as "dai" or "daito" among Western sword enthusiasts"

(taken from the goddamned wikipedia page, one google search away.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katana )

'ninja' swords had straight blades. the word 'katana' implies a curved blade.

ninja and samurai were not mortal enemies.

please read more real books.

I like him he played scott pilgrim with a certain finesse that to me made him the perfect actor for the role.
