Why do PC gamers get so much hate

Heh, not trying to get into the flame war but it mainly comes from what you grow up with. If you grow up with a N64 then you'll probably be a console-gamer. Same with a PC which is what I grew up with. I never got the chance to use a console, so I never got used to them and I still can't use them properly.
Anyway, this doesn't matter much when you're kids, but by the time you're older, the PC Gamers are the normally the ones with jobs because that's the only way to pay for their machines. They *try* and act more mature and probably are because they work. I'm not saying console gamers are dole-bludgers, but less of them work than PC Gamers would. You have to be pretty dedicated if you want to be a proper PC Gamer.

Keyword here is "probably." I grew up on consoles until around 2000, I own every Nintendo, Sega, and Sony console but the Saturn and Game Gear, from the Atari 2600 onward. Then I discovered the glory of PC gaming thanks to a late break into Starcraft and Half-life, and I've hardly ever looked back. I do own every system from the last two gens except Microsoft's, and a ton of PS2 games, so I'm not completely PC-biased, but in a market where nearly half the "core" games coming out are FPS, there's simply no reason to play on consoles. PCs are better for FPS, period. No debate. I've bought more games for my PSP than my PS3, that's saying a lot. I've even converted a friend of mine who used to be a die-hard Xbox fanatic to PC gaming when I helped him build a PC last year.Warbygen said:

Overclocking and ability to fine tune ALL settings means a gaming computer last 3 yrs. Then you go out in an orgy of overclocking, or buy a new supercheaper gaming rig that can go past all games(except Crysis, lazy programming there).

i have a xbox 360, a game, a controller, oh and the xbox box... which is fun as a castle... but thats all i need, the box you put the disc in, the disc, and the white thing you use to control it.
a pc gamer on the other hand needs a computer, a mouse, RAM, graphics, a game, minimum space on the hard drive, minimum specohforfucksakeimborednow...
plus irregardless of what people say (anyone who argues with this statement, you're lying) pc gaming is a fuck of alot more expensive than console gaming.

Except of course that the term is used to insult every one that games on a console, you tard*. The term isn't used in a definition of an individual but as the definition of all console gamers and as such it is not justified. I will admit that there are plenty of idiotic people that blast on about their platform of choice and none of these people are restricted to a particular platform. A typical $1500au rig (or, if you're from elsewhere ~$700AU, hooray for the "fuck you" tax) will outlast 2 generations of consoles (my fathers current rig has been around since before the release of xbox 1 and it's still playing everything, albiet on moderate settings). Compared to a $900 (on release) PS3 and a $500 (on release) ps2, it's not particularly expensive at ~$100 more. No doubt it will still be running through the next generation as well with a few minor updates. I'd love bring up xbox costs but they are rather hard to estimate since you get half a console and have to buy the rest in rather expensive increments. Assuming an xbox 360+wireless+hdmi+xbox live costs I've no doubt it would be the most expensive single generation console to run, and yes, if you stuck to nintendo consoles it would be cheaper, but how many of you actually have done that? It is never as simple as saying "consoles are awlays cheaper than PCs" or vice versa, and if you do I garuntee you have no fucking clue.tryx3 said:
