Why do people hate Mojang?

Because you're not an under-dog when you beat a corporal giant like Nintendo with 1 game, if you do that, then you're a tosser, not an under-dog. And it's fanbase could easily be entertained with paint drying because they have ONE WHOLE GAME. Yes, there's one in development, and if you look around their site you can find some old flash games, but MC is the only actual Official game.

People are just mad because an indie dev with a java game that's still in beta beat [insert AAA developer X that they like] in March Mayhem.

It just goes to show how tired people are of copy paste sequels, RealIsBrown, and everything else Yahtzee rants about on a weekly basis.
I myself have only bought one AAA game this year (LBP2), and while it is pretty much a copy paste sequel, the little big planet series itself is as far from the rest of the tired tropes of the industry as one can get.
On the other hand I've been absolutely thrilled with all my purchases from smaller companies this year. Castle Crashers, Plants versus Zombies, Minecraft, most of the Humble Bundle(s).
Apparently I'm in a minority here and the rest of the Escapist is stunned silly (sadly not stunned speechless) that indie games are becoming more popular.
They'll get over it or they'll ragequit. *shrugs*

I don't hate it, but it is really overrated. Not to mention that they're winning March Mayhem due to one incomplete game which IMO is very ridiculous and obnoxious trolling. I've played it before, but didn't have much interest in it. Though if they don't make any new games than just adding onto Minecraft, I seriously wouldn't care about them and doubt they'll win next year.
I don't hate Mojang, I love Minecraft. I do however hate people who would vote for it over Bioware (among others), I mean, BIOWARE! WTF is wrong with you people? Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KotOR, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, versus goddamn Lego Sim ?

I don't hate them either. I just don't agree they should have been listed/won March Mayhem when the only game they are currently producing has not been completed yet. Versus developers who have spent years developing fantastic games and highly good quality games.

Hating them? Few or no one. Not thinking they deserved to fin March Mayhem? Many.
I understand the frustration. Considering how many great games there are it is rather strange that the developers' showdown is won by a company who has only made one game - which isn't even released yet.

i enjoyed minecraft for a few days but once i had finished building my fortress and a roller coaster i got bored
surprised they won though good timeing i guess. minecraft is fresh and a lot of people are playing it but i don't think they deserved it.
I suppose DA2 was more damaging to bioware than i realised i haven't played it yet and even if it is shite bioware have made the majority of my top 10 games of all time

It's never about the trackrecord of a company, it's about what they did recently that defines how votes go. Bioware releases a lackluster sequal to Dragon Age, so it falls out of favor. Activision-Blizzard introduces more micro-transactions to WoW, it falls out of favor. Things like these all add up.jonyboy13 said:lolz its not even about that. That and people do like rooting for the underdog. I mean, here you have 1 (one) guy who programs a good game by accident, earns millions and sets up a small indie development team, and probably outsold most of the AAA titles released in 2010. That's a bit of a dream that most people have, and if not, at least they can relate to it.
Heck, I am willing to bet that quite a few voters have never played Minecraft. They are just voting 'cause it feels right.
And of course, seeing as how Valve hasn't released anything at all the past few years, that probably helped.
