why do people keep asking 360 vs PS3?

i ask because on Like Totaly Awesome (a youtube video by sxephil) they had people arguing 360 vs PS3, and asked people what they think. this is THE most stupid question ever, because whenever it is asked people will just moan, troll, flame ect...

I have a 360 because it's easier to keep in contact with my friends in cyprus, but the PS3 is good for other reasons. one is not better than the other.

It's the simple concept that if someone has a fancy toy, and someone else has another fancy toy, each are going to think their fancy toy is better. People tend to demean that which they don't have.

The majority or the average gamers can only afford one console or they are only allowed one in the home. Therefore the choice they make is very important and they want to go with the best one possible to avoid buyer's remorse. Hence when someone insults or criticises a single console, the owner of said console has to battle for his honour and his consumer choices.

That's why people ask those questions and that's why flame wars starts.

I should correct you. People who are EITHER unhappy with their machine and are suffering buyers remorse OR are happy with their console but are the gaming equivalent of Jehova's Witnesses will both try and discredit the other. The first because they are jealous and the second because they think it is their job to 'save' people who are clearly happy with their current state of gaming.

OT: I personally prefer PS3, but even so, that is just my personal preference and unless someone actually says the XBox360 is better I won't say anything, however, when they say the 360 is better I am overcome by 'Protector's Syndrome (a fake syndrome BTW)', where I feel the need to protect the console that cannot speak for itself in an attempt to save it from emotional distress caused by the Unbelievers!!!

I found myself asking this question a lot because, although both systems are really good. I wanted to figure out which one would be best for me...

It was because of the fact that they were both really good that it took me atleast a half a year of researching through the flame wars to figure this out..

Infact I said to a friend of mine "Why can't they just offer a cheeseburger with one of the systems so I know which one to pick."

I ended up picking the ps3 over the 360.. Some will laugh at me for my choice, but I'm happy.. I got to try both systems out and learn about them both (seeing as how my friend has one and my brother has the other) and the 360 didn't feel like something I personally liked...

That's just an opinion of course... I don't flame the 360 because it must be doing something right for how popular it is, but it just wasn't for me. I flame the Wii because.. Despite how popular it is.. it's popular for all the wrong reasons lol... Even though I have one and eventually cave into buying a game for it once a year -,-;

Each one has differences that make them both really good.. You find people asking which one is better because they are looking for the one that suits them the most, and for those who picked wrong are those who defend it to death and create flame wars because it's gonna take them a long time to get the money or get mommy to buy them another system, and they don't want to feel like an idiot for making an oopsie.
