yeah he may have found out that info on his own but then he probably would have been too late to horizon and at the end of mass effect 2 (spoiler) if you be a full paragon sheperd walks away from cerebus.
And Shepard knows this how, exactly? Has Shep read the walkthrough?

Yea I tried Mass Effect and only got like half way through before I got bored. But other people are allowed to like it. It really doesn't hurt me in any way.

I am not saying he would have but it is explained that cerebus wants to catch the collectors on a planet off guard and in sheperds shoes you have been out of the loop for 2 years and you need allies, you would have to know that any contacts you had could have dissapered

Bioware's quite capable of bringing the plot holes.

TIM: Hello, Shepard
S: Hello, Bond villain voiced by Martin Sheen.
TIM: Do you want to work for my hilariously evil terrorist organization despite the fact you have no reason to do so?
S: You are probably going to stab me in the back the first chance you get. But I'll work for you, because the writers decided to avoid branching plotlines in this game. (+2 Paragon.)
I thought of it more like this.

TIM: Hello, Shepard.
S: Hello, Mr President!

The Illusive Man is voiced by President Bartlet. How can he not be trustworthy?

Besides, the Alliance were useless in the first game. I imagine Shepard would be glad to work with someone, anyone, who already believed that the Reapers were still a threat.

OT: Can't stand Dragon Age but really like the Mass Effect Series. They're well written and very polished, often funny, and shamelessly crowd pleasing. Really, Shepard's entire character 'arc' might as well be summarised as "Shepard does awesome stuff then gets some alien loving then does more awesome stuff." It's a weirdly naive approach to character development but it works because it's fun. Let the rest of the cast do the drama and the deep dark secrets stuff - Shepard is half Kirk, half Picard and all Flash Gordon.

And as someone said earlier in the thread, Bioware actually can write likeable characters, unlike in say Fallout 3, where everyone I met without exception was a stiff backed, dead eyed dickhead that I just wanted to murder to shut them up.

Because not everyone agrees with you? Hows that so hard to understand?
if not everyone aggreed with me, i'd be fine. my point is that EVERYONE loves them and just ignores the plot holes and bland gameplay.
I dont see the plot holes and bland gameplay, and im one of those people who love to point out plot holes and enjoy it when avid fans of the movie or game try and defend it with no hope... but i cant see any plot holes in mass effect and if there are there so trivial that it would just be being finikey to bring them up... also i dont know what you mean by bland gameplay, i dont really have alot to rebuttle that with im not really a gameplay expert but i never saw the gameplay as bland.

and dont worry if you see a terrible game where everyone else see's a super unstopable mega game, you have a diffrent taste to other people thats fine, as a great man once said 'variety is the spice of life'... also dont bring up that you hate it to people who love it or youll probebly get the response you got here in this forum

People like BioWare games because that is their opinion. I really don't see what's hard to understand about it.

Well, people have reasons, opinions don't just pop into existence out of nowhere.

Anyway, I think Bioware games have good gameplay assuming you like RPGs, they have brilliantly imagined settings, well-crafted (if not very original) stories, interesting and well-written characters, excellent character customisation, lots of options about how to handle situations - and these last two things tend to have more of an effect on the story than in other games.

I'll admit the level design and some of the dialogue writing is patchy, and the gameplay tends to be a bit clunky until you get used to it.

Bioware make a very specific type of game and if you don't like that type of game you'll never enjoy a Bioware game. If you do, you will.
