It depends on the dub we are talking about. If you mean Skrillex (which I hate with a passion of a thousand burning suns), Modestep, Nero, Mt Eden, and the more Mainstream UKF stuff, not really.

If you mean stuff like Skream, Trolley snatcha, Sbtrkt, and all of the old-skool British Dubbers (which is the best kind of dubstep) then yeah. That stuff is like gold dust.

I do however prefer D&B, and Trip hop to Dubstep though.

One of the newest tracks from BT is also pretty awesome btw. It's not Dubsteb, but Electrodub (which isn't the same, but it's still fucking awesome). Armin posted it via. Armadamusic and i was instantly in love!

[Fast Forward to 3:00 if you don't like slow intros. This track pwnz]

The first song posted by Skrillex was just horrible, music has a rhythm. That was not music.
The song Syndicate however did have a good rhythm and was not bad. Guess which of the two is played on the radio though?

We listen to a lot of dubstep at work. My chef loves it, but the rest of us like hard trace. Dubstep sounds too samey and robot-sex noises can be annoying as shit. But it keeps us working fast...

It's this thing called personal taste people.
No matter how music is made, you get shit of all genres. You get shit dubstep just as you get shit rock. You get shit techno and shit country-folk music.
You also get good of all these things, but at the end of the day, some people will love what others hate and vice verca.
No amount of elitism will change this.

I think the real question is... Why shouldn't people like dubstep? It's all down to preference, really. (I'm not a fan of it myself, but I don't go around and ask people why they like this and that.)

I dont like R&B, hiphop, Trance, Rave, House or nothing like that. I use to like Metal heaps (probably a resemblance in heavy noises there) but now I am more softer there.

But I love Dubstep, well specific kinds. I personally enjoy ones that are less filthy orientated and offers more of a tune. I know people would be throwing all the songs they think are awesome but ill just be one of them too.

This actually has little tune, probably because it lacks consistency. But I love it.

Because.. It appeals to their tastes? I dunno, why do you like the things you do?

You find it amusing or otherwise interesting, there really isn't much I can say beyond that..

I have a very eclectic musical taste that ranges from screaming metal to sonatas and I still like some dubstep.

It's all down to personal taste, really.

Are quite nice to me. Your results may vary. Also, I suck at embedding videos.

Just throwing this out there, but maybe people enjoy the way it sounds?

Doesn't seem so hard to understand really.

You mean people enjoy something...THAT YOU DON'T LIKE?!
The horror! The unspeakable horror! Hide your children and lock the doors for surely the end of civilization is in sight!
People like things because they set off triggers in their brain that make them happy. Dubstep sets off their triggers, it doesn't set off yours.
What's your favorite food? There's someone in the world that hates that food. No matter how hard you try neither of you will ever be able to convince the other that they are right, so best to just enjoy what you like and not seek out what you don't.

While I'm not a dubstep enthusiast, I still find some tunes really nice. Palademon posted a remix of Lost Woods that I really liked and the remixes I've heard from some of Metric's tunes have been brilliant. :)

Same reason people (like me) would listen to house or techno or drum N bass.

To us it sounds good and makes us feel like moving.
Wether you like it or not it IS a kind of music and you either do or do not have a taste for this particular kind.

It's one of life's mysteries really. I can listen to some techno, but I've never heard anything as dislikable as "wub wub wub".

I like dubstep and I'm not gonna be like OMG FUCKING LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE ITS THE TITZ DOG YO YO YO BOSS.

But the people on here that are saying it's shit and that anyone that likes it is an idiot... Well I kinda expected more from the Escapites.

There's good dubstep and there's bad dubstep just like with any kind of genre and saying that it's the same as techno is like saying death metal and speed metal and black metal are the same. Or jazz and soul and blues. They're not. They're just not.

I'm disappointed in some of you guys. Really.

its purposeless noise, can't even dance to it, waste of time.

music should either evoke emotion (see anger, happiness, sadness, melancholy, peace) or be in conjunction with an activity (see swing music, most videogame songs, and the massively wide genre known as "dance")
Dubstep covers all of those. In fact Knights in black suits is the most melancholy and peaceful song I've heard in a long time. I listen to it between Otis Redding and Bill Withers.

There's loads of genres that you can't dance to, like metal, rap, pop and in fact who can even dance properly these days.

Ironically for you the core of dubstep is that it makes you feel things you don't have a name for, it doesn't matter how you move or how you look you're just going with it, becoming part of it.

Though I agree with you that the best dancing comes with music such as swing or jazz and such performances have their own places in my memory.

Dubstep became popular thanks to MDMA. That and stupid people.
I can't even tell if this is serious. But I don't do any kind of illegal drugs and I know people with scholarships that listen to dubstep.

...I actually want to ask if you have any friends.

Then again, haters gon' hate.

I like it every now and again, it's not like I listen it for hours. I find it to be fun or almost silly music, it amuses me due to it being so over the top. I struggle to avoid judging the people who are saying how only dumb asses can like it...

(I normally just listen to alternate rock)

Because some people like certain styles of music...

Why is it so bad that everyone likes dubstep? What does it matter to you? There's no reason to be elitist about stuff like this. People who hate on dubstep are just as bad as wannabe hipsters who talked about liking Arcade Fire before they won best album.

My vinyl collection spans quite a bit of genres, but you're willing to call me an idiot because I like Skrillex. Makes sense.

One of my friend actually makes dubstep, they tend to be really listenable. I've found a few other dubstep songs which are great as well. Theres a couple that sample from Muse which I really like.
Some dubstep can be quite dark and emotional, more than just pointless beeps and wub wubbing.

This is coming from somebody who likes metal and generally hates anything that sounds like dance or hip hop or whatever.

I genuinely enjoy dubstep, although I'm very picky about which songs. But then again why do people like country music? All they do is whine about women, trucks, beer and dogs. Or why do people like death metal? It's all just inane banging instruments with incomprehensible screaming.

To be honest I think dubstep became popular with Mt. Eden's Serria Leone
Serria Leone[/youtube]

But some people also like remixed songs, here's one of my favorites
